**ASSISTANT MANAGER - HARVESTING**

(ROMANSBAAI FARM, GANSBAAI, WESTERN CAPE)

**Aqunion (Pty) Ltd** is a dynamic, growing company that farms South African abalone for the Asian market. The company currently has two farms and a processing facility in the Overberg Region. We have an exciting opportunity available for an **Assistant Manager **in our **Harvesting **departmentto be based in Gansbaai**.**

**Primary purpose of position**

To assist the Production Manager in managing employees, processes, and systems at the Harvesting Facility on a day-to-day basis. With the assistance of the Food Safety Supervisor, he/she ensures that all SOPs and food safety compliance measures are maintained during daily operations.

**Key Performance Areas**:

- Managing a staff complement of 30;
- Maintenance and oversight of the facility and personnel to be in line with all HACCP and food safety practices;
- Responsible for all harvesting and purging systems operation and optimisation;
- Harvesting performance metrics and data management;
- Support all H&S, Hygiene, Training, and other site-relative compliance in the area;
- Stock Management;
- Preparation for export packing;
- Internal Auditing;
**Minimum Requirements**:

- A Degree or Diploma in Aquaculture, animal production or food safety will be advantageous (minimum Matric certificate);
- Prior experience with managing a medium-sized team;
- Prior experience in a food packing facility would be advantageous;
- Ability to identify problems and challenges on systems and equipment;
- Minimum 2 years aquaculture / farming / processing / quality control experience;
- Ability to work under pressure with demonstrable change management skills;
- Good written and oral communication skills with fluency in English;
- Computer literacy in either Microsoft or Google Suite;
- Results-oriented and the ability to continuously meet production targets;
- Ability to work after hours at short notice, as well as work duties on a rotational basis;
- Valid driver's license;
