**ASSISTANT MANAGER - HATCHERY**

**Aqunion (Pty) Ltd** is a dynamic, growing company that farms South African abalone for the Asian market. The company currently has two farms and a processing facility in the Overberg Region. We have an exciting opportunity available for an **Assistant Manager **in our **Hatchery **departmentto be based in, or around Gansbaai**.**

**Primary purpose of the position**

**To assist the Hatchery Manager with the execution of all hatchery operations. By managing a supervisory team to ensure that all systems, policies, and procedures in the Hatchery department are adhered to by its personnel, and improved through innovation. To continually monitor and optimise efficiencies relating to all production processes in the hatchery, thus ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality spat to the farm.**

**Key Performance Areas**:

- Employee management - total staff complement of 25;
- Oversee the day-to-day management of all hatchery processes;
- Productivity management;
- Broodstock, larvae, settlement management & planning;
- Ensure data generated from all processes are employed for the continuous improvement of hatchery processes;
- Stock & batch management;
- Water quality management;
- Internal Auditing;
- Research and development.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- A Degree or Diploma in Aquaculture, Animal Production;
- Employee management experience;
- Ability to identify problems and challenges on systems, equipment, and hatchery tasks;
- A minimum of 2 years of any aquaculture experience;
- Good written and oral communication skills with fluency in English;
- Problem-solving mindset; results-oriented and the ability to continuously meet production targets;
- Computer literacy in either Microsoft or Google Suite;
- A valid Driver's License;
- Ability to work after hours at short notice, as well as work duties on a rotational basis;
- Ability to work under pressure with demonstrable change management skills;
