**Job Purpose**

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for Blue Label Group payroll. Duties include collecting and reviewing employee information, calculating salaries and wages, preparing and processing employee payments and maintaining accurate payroll records.

**Responsibilities**

**Payroll Processing**
- Ensuring the accuracy of payroll preparation and processing for allocated companies within the Blue Label Group, payroll accounting, benefits
maintenance and various special payments
- Perform the first review of payroll prior to submitting it to management for review
- Determine payroll liabilities by managing and approving the calculation of employee taxes, UIF, leave etc
- Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies
- Post Payroll journal on a monthly basis, in line with the monthly timetable
- Reconcile payroll journal with Finance to identify any anomalies
- All reconciled items are to be cleared in the following month which they were identified in Payroll Administration
- Deliver accurate and timely processing of payroll
- Input and maintain payroll data
- Check payrolls for accuracy prior to submission
- Prepare complex manual payments when required
- Complete financial reconciliations
- Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in taxation, exemptions, deductions and job titles, terminations, promotions and transfers

**Data Management**
- Maintaining accuracy and integrity of the payroll system information
- Maintains the payroll information from Human Capital Employee files, calculation and entering of data

**Financial Control**
- Administer all instructions from SARS re IT88 and debt collection from employees on behalf of SARS
- 3rd Party reporting & submissions
- Report writing, payroll audits and tax reconciliations
- HR Frameworks and Tools
- Contribute to the drafting of HR frameworks and tools within an area of expertise, ensuring compliance with specified design principles, internal policies, and external legal requirements

**Reporting**
- Run ad-hoc reports and print for management, such as employee details - tax numbers, cell phone numbers, etc.
- Stats SA Reporting
- Month-End Payroll Reporting
- Provident Fund Reports
- Group Life Reports

**Customer Services**
- Responding to queries related to payroll and providing guidance on the prevailing laws governing payroll and income taxes, employee benefits,
garnishments, reimbursement policies and other statutory pay related entitlements
