**How does OUTvest think about Product Development?**
We like to squeeze things together and digitise the investment experience as much as possible for our customers and distribution partners and we also want to keep things simple and focus on value. Product development is critical to this.
**What does an Investment Product Development Specialist do every day at OUTvest?**
Product development at OUTvest combines a deep understanding of investments, product wrappers, regulation, and advice, most of it built into a simple digital investment journey. To achieve this, we combine all this into digital journeys that make investing safer and help clients achieve their objectives.
An investment product development specialist must work across multiple disciplines, including quantitative modelling, portfolio construction, client documentation, financial advice, tax, regulatory understanding and user experience design.
Whilst we don’t expect you to necessarily have experience in designing digital journeys, we do need you to have had extensive experience in product development roles across the investment industry.
**Qualifications**:
**What qualifications would you need to be considered for the role?**
- A relevant financial degree (including actuarial, maths, stats, finance, economics or investments)
- A minimum of 5 years experience in investment product development
- A postgraduate qualification in finance would be preferable (CFA, Masters in Finance, FASSA, MBA)
- RE 5 would be advantageous but not a requirement
**What previous work experience would you have had to be good at this role?**
We believe that to stand the best chance of success, you must have worked in an investment or a product development role at a large insurer or asset manager.
It would be advantageous if you have had experience developing and launching products such as Living Annuities, Retirement Funds, Endowments or Offshore products
We expect you to have about five years of experience in relevant roles depending on the composition of your experience.
**What exactly does the job entail?**
- Planning, analysis and development of investment products
This involves designing a digital onboarding journey where needed in conjunction with UX experts
Developing client documentation
Designing, documenting and presenting your financial advice system
Planning the underlying investment exposure to support the product.
This will include engaging with investment fund managers, fund selection
Where applicable, pricing and fees.
- Engaging with Business Analyst and IT with regards to the development and delivery of the investment product
- Designing requirements for the Management Information Systems, where needed.
- Governance and management of existing investment products, including automated advice systems, fund performance and related aspects.

**What is the level of this role?**
- This mid-level role will report to the actuarial and investment manager at OUTvest. The role will currently have no direct reports.
