**Purpose of Role**:
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Programmes key responsibilities will be to lead, direct and develop the senior leadership team in Early grade implementation design through **Strategic Management, Programme Design & Management, Stakeholder Relationship Management, Analysis & Reporting and Annual Budgets/Financial Management** and operating systems to achieve the strategic goals of the Funda Wande. Leverage and align cross-functional programmes, strengthen and create a focus on continuous improvement and service excellence.

**Objectives of Role**:

- **Strategic Management**
- Provides strategic input regarding the overall leadership and direction of the Funda Wande and other Programme teams, in particular
- Establish the strategy for the programmes in line with overall Funda Wande strategy
- Ensure ongoing alignment regarding programme objectives and outcomes with Funda Wande strategic mandate
- Establish an engagement strategy for the programmes, to support the needs of all intervention leads
- Communicate strategy to key stakeholders, both internal and external to the Funda Wande
- **Programme Design & Management**
- Lead, direct and develop the conceptualization of implementation design based on empirical evidence and rigorous research methodologies
- Oversee all programmes to ensure learner outcome improvement, efficient and effective teacher training and support and teacher assistance support
- Lead the team to build strong relationships with programme beneficiaries, understanding their context and requirements so as best to encourage “what works & what scales.”
- Develop and monitor ongoing programme systems and structure to ensure fidelity and positive learning impact
- Develop and manage a knowledge resource hub that gathers and disseminates relevant information on; implementation design, programme fidelity and evaluation approaches
- Be the custodian of interventions within the organisation and thought leader in the sector.
- Champion organizational values, discipline and positive team morale.
- **Stakeholder Relationship Management**
- Establish and develop networks with key stakeholders such as government, academia, NGOs, and funders within the early-grade learning field locally and internationally
- Represent Funda Wande on issues and in forums relating to the implementation of early grade programmes
- Build strong internal relationships, particularly with the Content & Training and Research units
- Establish partnerships and facilitate agreements with relevant stakeholders/service providers
- Establish a framework to ensure that strategic partnerships align with Funda Wande’s practices and compliance with information protocols internal and across all stakeholders
- **Analysis & Reporting**
- Compile annual strategic plans for programmes and progress reports for Funda Wande at agreed intervals and present at various leadership, Board, Funder and team engagements.
- **Annual Budgets/Financial Management**
- Forecast annual capital & operational expenses in line with programme objectives
- Confirm the annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and Head of Finance & Operations
- Manage costs against approved budget and compile budget reports

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Honours Degree in Development Studies, Education, Business Management or relevant field
- 5 - 7 years relevant working experience and 3 years of those in leading Programmes in NGO/Education environments
- Experience in a fast-growing agile environment
- Leadership & Strategic Management experience
- Stakeholder Engagement and networking experience
- Thought leadership and strategic management expertise in Early Grade learning and understanding of social issues and how these can affect learning
- Experience in Programme Design & Management in Education field (especially in early grade learning), Development / NPO / Philanthropy Sector
- A high level of ability to communicate complex ideas
- Considerable experience in budget/financial procedures
- Proven Project Management skills and ability to work on multiple projects
- Proven People Management and team leadership
- Experience in setting up and monitoring operating systems in new / rapidly growing organizations
- Proven Innovation, Conceptual and Analytical Thinking Skills
- Ability to delegate and building organizational talent ensures quality control and performance standards
- Stakeholder Engagement Skills
- Communication (written & verbal), Influencing and Highly computer literate in ,IT Skills, Google Suite, MS Office Suite, SLACK, Smartsheet, Dropbox, etc.
- Flexibility and quick judgment in decision making
- Models passion for excellence and results oriented
- Work cooperatively and effectively with others.
