**_ Position Purpose:_**

Manages the electrical, diesel, gas, and other energy consumption related to buildings, properties, and

equipment utilization to realize the following:

- Efficient and Effective use of electrical and diesel energy;
- Introduction of renewable energy supply wherever feasible;
- Raising the profile of energy conservation and managing energy savings campaigns aimed at

staff, customers, and suppliers;
- Security of energy supply to satisfy the requirements of the TP business plan;
- Solutions for optimal carbon emissions management; behavior
- Compliance with the Electricity Supply Act, diesel use regulations, related standards,

specifications, and codes of practice.
- Manage the ISO 500001 in TP (Energy Management System)

**_Position outputs:_**
- Manage the implementation of TP and Regions energy policy and standards in alignment with
- Transnet policy, TP business plan, and best practices.
- Manage the implementation of ISO 50001 in the business by best practice. Manage the ISO 50001 EnMS and the energy

manager’s responsibility
- Support the business regarding the green building initiatives in the design, construction, and refurbishment projects.
- Drive the business’s Energy awareness campaigns
- Audit and analyze energy consumption profiles of the business to identify current energy utilization and identify wastage.
- Manage the business’ monthly energy utility accounts and make sure that verification of the consumption is done monthly

and timeously before the payment is processed.
- Fulfil the duties of the energy accounts manager as per the Transnet electricity PCM and liaise with the business and HQ

finance department to determine accurate yearly energy budgets
- Monitor business energy budgets on monthly basis and reduce waste
- Analyse and identify existing processes and equipment utilization that are negatively impacting energy utilization. Propose

an engineering solution and lead the implementation processes.
- Identify possible solutions to optimize energy usage and energy sourcing to achieve required energy savings.
- Present proposed solutions and revised processes to business management to influence the implementation of identified

initiatives.
- Support the implementation of change management initiatives to instil a culture of saving within the business.
- Provide energy efficiency training during the shifts, toolbox, or green area talks.
- Ensure that energy consumption is accurately metered;
- Lead in the inputs to the Business and Regional EXCO on the company’s Energy Strategy
- Prepare Business’s daily, weekly, monthly, and end the year Energy Report
- Coordinate activities with other disciplines in the business to integrate and effectively utilize the sustainability model in all

projects
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to sustainable developments and energy and other sustainability policies, procedures,

and protocols.
- Ensure that all TP facilities are efficiently utilized, drive the facility’s energy usage reduction discussions on all building

services i.e. HVAC, lighting, small power, including operational facilities, etc.
- Design of energy efficiency programs and the provision of effective and comprehensive project management for these

programs to optimize energy utilization without negatively impacting operations
- Manage minor works projects and attend all meetings required by the business in the energy portfolio including department

meetings when required.
- CAD work was required with the use of AutoCAD or other approved systems. This will include energy services design work
- Prepare specifications in line with the company PLP or other frameworks approved. This will include the preparation of

RFQ, RFI, RFP, ORS, and business cases with the support of the project management team
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- NQF 8 B.Eng./ BSc degree in Electrical

or Mechanical Engineering
- 3- 5 years’ work experience in

electrical or mechanical engineering.
- ECSA registration is recommended
