**_ Position Purpose:_**

The IT Commercial Management is established to provide overall leadership, direction, prioritisation, co-ordination, and

ultimate management of all Transnet-wide commercial/financial activities associated with Information and Communications

Technologies (ICT). The position leads the analysis, forecast, and reporting on the Capital and Operational budget and

expenditure for the ICT function.

**_ Position outputs:_**
- Ensures that the ICT function adheres to company policies related to the Public Financial Management Act and other

financial controls
- Analyzes a variety of financial information for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations,

maximizing use of funds, and/or ensuring overall ICT operations are within budget
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining services and

programs
- Conducts internal audits for the purpose of ensuring program operations are within budget and in accordance with fiscal

practices
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic fiscal information, files, and records (e.g., accounts payable, accounts

receivable, vendor contacts, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail
- Researches financial topics and related legal issues (e.g., discrepancies, current legislative trends, etc.) for the purpose of

evaluating compliance requirements
- Presents information (e.g., IT budget overviews, accounting processes, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information,

gaining feedback, and ensuring adherence to established internal controls
- Ensures financial management reporting tools and processes are in place to support the ongoing and future needs of the

ICT function
- Provides ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to ICT sub-functions
- To lead the budgeting process in Group ICT which includes liaison with ODs in line with the various recovery processes,

budgeting of transformational projects, their cost tracking and their monetary benefit realization
- To manage and oversee the accounting function, ensure financial processes are followed, efficient costing is achieved,

manage the operational cost recovery and expenditure and carry out a variety of monthly reconciliations.
- To analyse, prepare the budgets and ensure recoveries are done to all operating units in GICT and across Operating

Divisions (OD)
- Project costing for all IT projects
- To prepare month-end reports for the CIO
- Manage operational expenditure against the budget
- Ensure forecasting and expenditure of Capex budget is done in line with budget
- Ensure forecasts of replacement and new machines are done in line with Capex budget

**_Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Bachelor's degree and Hons in Business, IT, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or in another related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Financial Management, preferably in an ICT environment.
- People management and leadership experience.
