RCL FOODS is currently searching for a dynamic and seasoned Executive (Sugar Technology) to join our Sugar Business Unit, reporting to the Operations Director (Sugar). The role will be based at our Head Office in Westville, with service being rendered at all the Sugar Mills.

In order to be considered, the successful incumbent is required to have completed a Ten Week SMRI Course in Sugar Technology.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Provide the technical lead for all matters relating to sugar technology and energy & mass balance.
- Develop, and roll out relevant standards to ensure a working energy and mass balance.
- Lead sugar technology component for technical audits, reviews, and plant inspections.
- Checking daily/weekly/monthly production reports to identify areas where improvements can be made. Hold factories to account for production volumes, energy footprint and recoveries.
- Identifying lost opportunities in factories and lead improvement plans.
- Lead relevant studies/investigations at mills.
- Lead the sugar and energy technology mentorship component for all EIT’s.
- Accountable for ensuring a working mass and energy balance is available for each site.
- Drive strategy for optimal recoveries and energy usage.
- Ensure Mill Labs deliver an accurate representation of mill performance
- Guide and inform capital spend and resourcing to deliver above.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- BSc Engineering - Chemical or Mechanical.
- Ten Week SMRI Course in Sugar Technology.
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in the sugar industry.
- Proven track record in the ability to provide sugar technology/energy solutions in sugar factories.
- Ability to use relevant models for providing solutions to complex factory problems
- In depth knowledge of factory balance calculations, steam and power generation and all aspects of sugar processing
- To be considered for the position, you must be a South African citizen.
