**The IIE Varsity College, Pretoria Campus has a part-time Supervisor vacancy available for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for the 2023 academic year**:

- Supervisor: Research Methodology for Psychology (Independent contractor)
- INRP8419
- Supervisor: Educational Assessment, Evaluation and Research (Independent contractor)
- RESE8419

**Responsibilities include**:
Supervisor is a member of the academic team who is responsible for providing support and mentorship to a postgraduate student. The supervisor thus plays an important role during the student's research journey. A supervisor will be responsible for various activities such as providing timely, constructive and frequent feedback on, among other things,
- The quality and comprehensiveness of the content;
- Quality of academic sources and referencing requirements;
- Argument construction;
- Gaps in conceptual understanding;
- Appropriateness of data collection and data analysis methods;
- Accuracy of data analysis;
- Quality and comprehensiveness of findings and interpretations;
- Ethical concerns; and
- Threats to the validity and reliability (or trustworthiness) of the study.

**In addition, the supervisor must**:

- Assist with idea generation and provide focus, direction and clarity;
- Assist the student in developing a research proposal;
- Assist the student with ethics clearance;
- Provide guidance in terms of planning, organising and deadline management;
- Sign off and submit all the documents as required and specified in the Research and Postgraduate Studies Policy (IIE007) to the postgraduate coordinator; and
- Submit biannual progress reports, if a requirement (only applicable to Master’s and Doctoral studies).

**Minimum Education Requirements**:

- Masters degree in the relevant field.

**Minimum Work Experience Requirements**:

- Supervision experience in post graduate programs is a requirement

- Positions are part-time, with lectures taking place between 08:00 and 17:00
