- The Technical Medical Underwriter evaluates the risk of providing health coverage to employer group members by examining their medical history, demographics, lifestyle, and other health factors. This analysis supports decision-making and aligns with business objectives using established policies and guidelines**Requirements**:
**Experience and Qualifications**
- Relevant Health Sciences Degree or Diploma
- At least 5 Years experience as a medical underwriter
- Competent in the assessment and management of underwriting decisions
- Understanding and knowledge of Group Insurance products and underlying philosophy is an advantage.
- Technical knowledge and some experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data relative to industry is advantageous
- Role may require travelling to Clients when needed, code B license and own vehicle required

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Build strong relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including third parties, members, and service providers.
- Underwrite both standard and impaired lives, ensuring risks are managed and escalated as needed.
- Contribute to risk identification processes and share recommendations in relevant forums by:

- Driving continuous innovation through the development, sharing, and implementation of new ideas
- Creating, planning, and executing projects according to deadlines and specifications
- Maintaining project progress and providing regular status updates
- Conducting research and analysis to support projects
- Identify opportunities to boost cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Foster and support effective teamwork within the department.
- Participate in training programs to enhance professional development.
- Consistently demonstrate the company’s values.
- Contribute to a culture that builds rewarding relationships, encourages feedback, and delivers exceptional client service.
- Adhere to best practices, service levels, and legislative requirements.
- Ensure efficient underwriting service delivery and support.
- Perform accurate and efficient administrative tasks e.g., data entry, communication, policy monitoring, trend analysis and reviewing reports received.
