**JOB SPECIFICATION - COMPLIANCE MANAGER**

Workerslife Management Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the PGC Group - An employment opportunity as a Compliance Manager currently exists within Workerslife Group.

**1.** **PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

To manage the compliance management function team and to assisting the Head of Compliance to develop, identify, assess and report on key legal and regulatory obligations and the risks associated with the applicable legislations that impacts the Group and promote a sound compliance culture.

To provide reasonable assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the group’s corporate governance framework, systems for regulatory risk management and internal control. The individual must also provide an independent perspective on risks and breaches of legal or regulatory requirements. The Compliance Manager is responsible for the quality of the compliance work performed and the efficiency and effectiveness of the compliance team.

**2.** **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION**
- A degree (NQF7) in accounting, risk or legal fields (e.g. B.Com, LLB) or audit or other relevant related tertiary qualification.
- Post-graduate Diploma in Compliance would be an advantage
- Member of the compliance Institute of South Africa
- 5 - 8 years’ experience in the financial services sector, preferably in or with exposure to life and non-life insurance environment
- Completed FAIS RE 1
- Registered with the FSCA as a Compliance Officer.

- In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry’s standards and regulations

- A deep conceptual understanding of regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering and control frameworks and good governance within global environments is essential.

- Understanding of legal issues and the ability to interpret legislation.
- Ability to provide regulatory training at all levels including Board and Senior Management where required
- At all times, remain fit and proper for the role

**4. CONTENT OF THE JOB**
- Provide compliance leadership in the Group
- Implement and manage core compliance programs & training & reporting in the Group
- Develop strong partnerships across the business that facilitates the managing and mitigation of risks across the various areas of the business, resulting in an integrated risk management effort.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders (including regulators, clients, industry associations and counterparts within the group).
- Mentor and coach less experienced team members by providing guidance around the methodology and audit process.
- Support Head of Compliance to identify, attract, develop and retain talent on an ongoing basis
- Manage the compliance imperatives, objectives and activities in the Group
- Draft and compile compliance risk management frameworks as well as a governance framework that include relevant domestic and international best practices.
- Draft and maintain compliance policies and conduct guidance documents (e.g. on-boarding / marketing guidelines etc.)
- Contribute to the annual compliance risk planning process by providing feedback and knowledge with respect to process mapping and risk identification.
- Plan and manage high quality delivery of assigned monitoring compliance duties in line with Key Performance Indicators as per the compliance methodology. This will include adequate resourcing scheduling, meeting key deliverables in terms of compliance monitoring plan ensuring that all risk areas are covered within the planned scope.
- Manage the compliance infrastructure
- Develop and optimise compliance policies as required
- Develop and implement compliance reporting infrastructure
- Exercise monitoring and control processes systems and standards of behaviour
- Provide support services to the Senior Management and/or Board subcommittees, and business at large, ensuring compliance with governance and statutory requirements.
- Identify, measure and manage compliance to regulatory requirements (compliance plan)
- Responsible for legislative implementation projects
- Liaise with the Regulatory Bodies from time to time.
