Legislation. MENCO seeks to fill the position of a competent, dynamic, motivated

Middle/Senior level Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) in Gauteng, Pretoria.

The incumbent to be appointed in this position at MENCO needs to fulfil the following requirements linked to the position:
**Key Performance Areas**:
NEMA, NEMWA, NEMBA);
- Compile supporting documentation in terms of Integrated Water and Waste

Management Plans, Basic Assessments, Scoping Reports, Environmental Impact

Assessments and Environmental Management Programmes;
- Provide input to the further development and continuous improvement of technical supporting documents;
- Liaise with Government Departments and other relevant stakeholders regarding environmental authorisation processes;
- Proficiency with the relevant environmental legislation and regulations;
- Maintain knowledge and capacity pertaining to environmental legislation;
- Negotiation, liaison and communication with Interested and Affected Parties during Public Participation Processes;
- Financial Management on projects;
- Managing a team of consultants and provide a mentoring and guidance role to developing the team;
- Provide input to Strategic and Business planning for the company;
- Key client/account relationship management, participation in marketing and business development activities; and
- Compilation and review of tenders and quotations;
**Recommendations for the job**:

- An appropriate degree (B.Sc, B.Sc Hons, M.Sc, Ph.D) in the field of either

Hydrology, Geohydrology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Management,

Environmental Science or related fields (such as Microbiology, Zoology, Botany,

Chemical Engineering, etc.);
- Minimum 4 - 5 years environmental consulting experience in Impact Assessment,

Water Use Licences, Compliance Monitoring, stakeholder engagement / public participation, EMPr drafting, Mining Applications and Project Management;
- EAPASA and Pr.Sci.Nat Professional Registration;
- Profound knowledge and understanding of NWA, NEMA, the Environmental Impact

Assessment (EIA) process, NEMWA, MPRDA and their associated legislative requirements;
- Specialist Expertise Advantageous;
- The ability to work in a team and independently;
- Ability to relate with associated professional fields in a multi-disciplinary team;
- Strategic thinking and problem solving abilities;
- Technical analysis and processing of data;
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure on multiple projects;
- Liaise appropriately with specialists as well as sub-consultants, clients and authorities;
- Must be able to meet deadlines, and be prepared to work extra time occasionally in order to do so;
- Well organized - able to plan, prioritize, co-ordinate and work well under pressure;
- Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills;
- Code B Driver’s license, own transport and willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings;
- Negotiation skills;
- Good record keeping and administrative skills;
- Computer literacy;
- Ability to work on multiple assignments and under pressure;
- Have the ability to source new work;
- Actively building relationships with clients; and
- Mentorship and support to junior consultants

**Salary**: Market related based on experience and interview discussion

**Salary**: R20,000.00 - R35,000.00 per month
