Our client, one of the biggest banks in South Africa based in Johannesburg who is a firm believer in technical innovation and leading edge financial solutions is urgently looking for a Manager: Cross Border Payments Processing to be Responsible and accountable for the operational performance of the team through the provision of operational team management oversight in terms of people management, continuous improvement, cost control, relationship management and customer service.

**This is a working from home opportunity as the banks have not returned to the offices. Most of our clients are talking about a hybrid working model**
**In order to be considered the following is required**:

- Matric
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s in Business Administration
- White Belt Training Six Sigma (Advantageous)
- 7-10 years’ experience in managing large (30 - 40) staff compliments and driving a culture of high performance in teams
- 7-10 years’ experience within a foreign exchange payments and society for worldwide international financial telecommunications (SWIFT) environment
- 7-10 years in people management including, conflict management, coaching and mentoring staff, driving reward and recognition in the team and ensuring appropriate disciplinary action taken where required
- More than 7 years in people management including, conflict management, coaching and mentoring staff, driving reward and recognition in the team and ensuring appropriate disciplinary action taken where required

**NOTE**
The bank has implemented a Vaccination Policy for all roles which require the incumbent to work from the premises on a full-time or intermittent basis. Full vaccination against COVID-19 is therefore an inherent requirement of this role

**Responsibilities**:
**People Management**:

- Mentors and coaches Team Leaders so as to build competency and facilitates career discussions
- Responsible for the recruitment, development and retention of relevant skills in order to meet the business needs
- Creates an environment in which learning and development are emphasised and valued
- Monitors the implementation of individual personal development plans
- Takes personal responsibility for coaching and mentoring others
- Effectively delegates authority and responsibility, in line with business objectives, to ensure the empowerment, motivation and effectiveness of all direct and indirect reports
- Develops and maintains an open communication channel with direct reports and supports staff to foster greater co-operation and teamwork
- Monitors and manages the performance and development of staff within the area. This includes regular one-on-one feedback sessions, conducting mid-year and final performance appraisals, as well as the moderation and relative distribution of all appraisals for the team
- Ensures staff are appropriately and consistently rewarded and recognised for their achievements and outputs

**Productivity and Service**:

- Ensure the operational performance of the team through:

- The management of people
- Continuously improving the processing environment by revisiting the processes and procedures and looking at ways to improve efficiencies
- Controlling and maintaining the costs within the department
- Managing the stakeholder relationships
- Continuous focus on customer service and ways to improve the current service levels

**Relationship Building and Stakeholder Management**:

- Deliver excellent service that meets and exceeds client expectation
- Overall management of relationships between the area of responsibility and internal business partners

**Operations Management**:

- Ensure daily capacity planning for department
- Ensure daily staff scheduling as per the departmental requirements
- Ensure daily productivity management
- Manage the risk or the department
- Ensure focus customer service by ensuring payments are processed
- Encourage the team to generate continuous improvement ideas

**Compliance and Risk Management**:

- Ensure the team adherence to laid down processes and procedures in regards to compliance and Balance of Payment (BOP) reporting
- Ensure resolution to all queries raised, from internal areas and the South African Reserve bank, in respect of compliance and Balance of Payment (BOP) reporting
- Ensure the necessary corrective action is applied to all systems and processes as a result of the non-conformance to compliance and Balance of Payment (BOP) reporting
- Ensure the implementation of preventative measures to ensure avoidance of fraudulent transactions
- Ensure adherences to processes and procedures by the team with an aim to continuously keep losses in line with the agreed budget
