Job description: CMI Specialist HC Africa

Background:
In order to enable our ambitious Africa growth agenda, the CMI team will be the crucial lynchpin to spot growth opportunities, by channel/country/division, measure our performance to identify opportunities to sharpen our 6P levers and actions to harness growth, and look forwards to spot trends & insights that help us develop & launch transformational innovation. The focus of the delivery for this role will be driven by key business needs within the HC Division as well as Africa as a whole, to ensure our Insights get acted upon to deliver growth. As such the role demands a combination of key skills
- innovation testing & optimisation, (innoflex, lean, etc), communication testing & optimisation, market insights (6P analytics, fundamentals of growth, pricing & promo optimisation, brand equity analytics, etc.). Examples of key deliverables:
- Identifying and landing strategic research to shape the strategy and drive growth. E.g. Habits & Attitudes, Category Drivers, Retail and Channel trade and opportunities, de-averaged demographic/economic/geographic opportunities. Distribution opportunities.- Lead consumer connection programmes (Get on the Frontline) to ensure that the business keeps the consumer at the heart of everything it does.- Lead innovation research programs from ideation/co-creation to final testing of the full mix- Embrace new tools and methodologies, piloting new methods & approaches towards more agile research that is fit for building insights in Africa.

About the Role:
The role reports to the Africa CMI Homecare Lead, and business partners the HC marketing & CD teams. The workplan will be tailored to the HC divisional strategy & priorities in Africa, and agreed between the CMI HC Lead and the Africa CMI Head. This role will work closely with other CMI members in HC and in the full Africa CMI team.

The person should be able to identify growth opportunities using a variety of different data sources - continuous market data (Nielsen, Kantar, Data Orbis etc), primary & secondary (desk) research, PDC data etc.

Ability to work effectively with Unilever data & insight tools (NRM dashboards, B-Guided BGS, Nielsen Connect Express, Pentrack etc), using various data sources to deliver growth insights & recommendations to the business.

This role will need to pro-actively look for business opportunities and find creative ways to deliver insights both, alone as part of the broader CMI team and also together with agency partners. A critical part of the role is to drive insights into actions in the business.

While most of the work will be on HC-specific projects & priorities, all CMI roles are expected to be agile in nature & to flow to value to deliver the growth agenda for Africa as a whole.

KEY REQUIREMENTS- Confidence in working with data / numbers and being analytically sound.- 3+ yrs of relevant work-ex: one or more of: CMI, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, CD, digital- Confidence in working with Business Partners and solving business problems.- Creative problem solving & ability to deploy pragmatic & innovative solutions.- Work autonomously & make decisions independently.- Work collaboratively - ability to orchestrate regional and cross-category level work; as well as deliver in partnership with agencies.- Strong organizational awareness & good business acumen

Advantageous experience/skills:
- Knowledge of African markets & consumers- Interest in human behaviour / psychology- Digital skills/experiences (e.g. social media listening)
