**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government has opportunities for two (2) suitably qualified and competent individuals to build library stock through the selection and acquisition of suitable library materials, promote their use, and maintain a central bibliographic database. These posts are based in Cape Town, CBD.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Library Science/Information Sciences.

**Recommendation**:
Experience in the following: Collection development and evaluation of library material; Cataloguing experience using AACR2 or RDA; Children’s literature collection development; Electronic resources collection development.

**Key Performance Areas**:
Evaluation of library material; Creation of bibliographic records; Collection development; Promotion of library material.

**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Book knowledge; Library selection procedures; Library Information Management System; MARC21; Budgeting; Skills needed: Proven computer literacy (MS Office); Presentation skills; Planning and organisational; Time management; Ability to work independently, as part of a team and under pressure.

**Remuneration**:
R 294 321 per annum (Salary level 7)

Note on remuneration: Employees' service benefits or obligations (13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
