A national management position in the Quality and Risk management team has become available within Mazars South Africa.
This position is well suited for someone who wants to make a difference and bring about positive change in the quality of all assurance engagements.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Direct and manage the full internal assurance monitoring review process of the firm in terms of ISQC1 [soon to be ISQM]
- Performing the various types of internal assurance monitoring reviews within Mazars (i.e. technical due diligence reviews of firms joining Mazars / potential new assurance partners; internal assurance monitoring reviews of audits performed by our international offices)
- Development of risk management policies and tools within Mazars, with the focus being on the quality of assurance engagements
- Assisting the person(s) within QRM responsible for the Monitoring Steering Committee (MSC) on all MSC related matters such as the review of internal assurance monitoring review findings reports to be tabled at the MSC; issuing of MSC decision letters etc.
- Liaise with the various stakeholders throughout the internal assurance monitoring review process providing guidance to the internal monitoring reviewers as well as the internal monitoring annual financial statements reviewers, communicating findings to the assurance partner being reviewed, providing feedback to the firm and specific management structures [i.e. MSC] on the outcome of the reviews performed / the root causes / sanctions issued and remedial action implemented both at an individual assurance partner level as well as at firm level
- Detailed involvement in the annual IRBA individual engagement inspections of Mazars assurance partners through, inter alia, attending the relevant meetings with the assurance partner / providing support to the assurance partner throughout the process / review the assurance partner’s formal responses to the IRBA preliminary inspection report (PIR) as well as the root causes and remedial action plans Involvement in other IRBA related matters such as the annual IRBA assurance work declaration (AWD), audit quality indicators (AQI) and the firm inspection process
- In charge of the completeness and accuracy of the information relevant to IRBA individual engagement inspections and other IRBA related matters on the shared risk drive and intranet
- Provide the necessary technical support to assurance engagement teams through e.g. technical consultations and key audit matters (KAM) reviews
- Develop and present training related to quality and risk mnagement matters focusing on the internal assurance monitoring process of the firm Other ad hoc quality and risk management related matters
**Minimum Requirements**:
- CA(SA) is a requirement
- Minimum of 5 years’ audit review and management experience out of SAICA articles
- Mazars experience will be beneficial
- Exceptional knowledge of and technical skill in applying, inter alia,
- the ISA’s;
- the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants’ (IESBA) International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants;
- the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors’ (IRBA) Code of Professional Conduct for Registered Auditors
- ISQC1 [soon to be replaced with ISQM1 & 2]
Essential Competencies:

Skilled in:
- logically and clearly presenting opinions and proposals
- convert technical information and regulations into practical tools
- developing and presenting training material
Other requirements:
- Willingness to travel both inside and outside of South African’s borders
- Willingness to form part of relevant Mazars South Africa and / or Mazars Group task groups as well as relevant IRBA and SAICA committees and task groups
