The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of **Head of Communications and Advocacy.**

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Communications and Advocacy will lead and manage the communication function of AUDA-NEPAD by developing and implementing effective communication strategies that promote the organization's vision, mission, and goals. The incumbent will ensure that the organization's messaging is clear, consistent, and effectively communicated to a broad range of stakeholders.

The Head of Communications will take responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, managing reputational risks, and ensuring that AUDA-NEPAD's communication efforts contribute to its overall success. Additionally, the incumbent will provide strategic advice and guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and senior management on communication matters, manage a team of communication professionals, evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts, and recommend improvements where necessary.

**Required Skills and Competencies**
- Excellent experience in communications and journalism to mobilise support and resources.
- Excellent writing, facilitation, and presentation skills to provide effective leadership to the Division, articulate and promote AUDA-NEPAD and African sectoral positions, and compose and defend requests for support or particular actions.
- Experience in leading and supervising a diverse team and the ability to leverage limited resources and staff for maximum impact.
- Experience in managing organizational resources and deployment in pursuit of innovative approaches and initiatives.
- Experience in working with social media and technology.
- Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP ERP) essential.
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality at the highest level.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
- Excellent strategic visioning, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, and reporting skills.
- High level of integrity and accountability, flexible approaches to work coupled with enthusiasm, commitment, and energy.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
- Creative thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Good organization, planning, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in one of the AU working languages, and fluency in another AU language an added advantage.

**Qualifications And Experience**

A Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations and any other related field with at least ten (10) years post-qualification experience in leading a communication function within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

Or

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or any other related field with at least twelve (12) years post-qualification experience in leading a communication function within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally. At least five (5) years should be at management-level experience in leading and managing comparable within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

**Remuneration**:Indicative basic salary of **US$ 57,356.60** per annum plus other entitlements e.g., Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($27,290.88 per annum), gratuity (15% of basic salary), medical aid, life and accident insurance in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
