We at **SIQALO FOODS** subsidiary of RCL FOODS are in search for an **BASIC OPERATOR **to join our **FOODS DIVISION**. The role will be based in** BOKSBURG **and report to Prodution Shift Manager. To safely operate, set up and maintain allocated equipment in the packing hall in order to ensure efficiently packed finished products, according to production requirements.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Process / Operation**

**_ Start Up / Shutdown Procedure_**

Performs the pre-start inspection, start up and shut down on all related machinery as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

**_ Material Availability_**

Obtains materials from storage areas as soon as pre-determined low levels are reached and notifies the relevant personnel if material is not available.

Assists Line Operator at end of production order and ensures that stock recon is done for packaging and returned to warehouse.

**_ Operation_**

Ensures that machinery and equipment in area of responsibility is operated, maintained and changed over efficiently as per SOP.

Makes adjustments to settings of equipment as per SOP.

Performs variant/size changeovers on selected equipment only.

Performs Autonomous Maintenance tasks up to and including AM Step 3 Activities.

Escalates any issues on the line needing attention to Line Operator or Production Shift Manager.

**Engineering**

Performs basic maintenance on selected machines and components only. Limited to Cleaning, Lubricating, Inspecting, Tightening.

Works with artisan during major breakdowns, assisting and following instructions from the Artisan.

**Problem Solving and Decision Making**

Initiates first level of problem solving (e.g. 5 Why) using structured problem-solving techniques and proposes continuous improvements.

**Administration**

Does hourly plant monitoring and completes log sheets/shopware for his/her area of responsibility.

Performs all related WCM activities and manually captures tags and hands over to main Line Operator o Production Shift Manager.

**Leadership and Relationships**

Promotes a healthy working relationship with the line team.

Escalates problems pro-actively to the Line Operator/Production Shift Manager

**SHE**

Adheres to Company emergency procedures, safety rules and regulations and eliminates potential SHE hazards in work area.

Performs behavioural safety observations and corrects unsafe behaviour.

**Quality**

Conducts visual quality checks of process material, and finished products as per quality standard, records findings and takes appropriate action when parameters are exceeded (e.g. stops the line and adjust).

**Minimum Requirements**:
N3/NQF Level 3/ Matric Certificate
