WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The **General Manager: QHSE** is responsible for all aspects of quality control and implementing health, safety and environmental practices throughout the organization (all RDM sites) to ensure that all products and processes are in line with statutory requirements.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for Quality Health Safety and Environment (QHSE) in RDM on a national level including the management of the QHSE Management systems.
- Develop and implement the QHSE Future Vision, Strategies, and continuous improvement opportunities in consultation with the Executive Leadership.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust QHSE Program that aligns with industry best practices and applicable standards.
- Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the company’s leadership teams and various departments in the development and implementation of strategies and plans to promote the expected and agreed QHSE performance and culture.
- Implements Quality Management Systems in line with ISO/AQAP/DIN/NATO requirements.
- Ensure compliance to the legal requirements (OHS-Act, NEMA & other related legislation) and develop measures to address/mitigate risks.
- Ensure conformance with relevant quality standards, or other industry-specific certifications.
- Maintaining ISO certification for the organisation/site (ISO 14001, 45001, 9001).
- Overall responsibility for establishing and ensuring functionality of Emergency Response Procedures across the company.
- Provide QHSE processes and resources to manage contractor and supplier quality performance.
- Effectively manage the QHSE team of RDM to ensure resourcing, succession planning, training, performance and manpower development, especially focusing on developing national content and capability.
- Provide effective leadership, guidance and education for all QHSE programs as well as for incident investigations and ensure measures and processes are put in place for follow up and closure of remedial actions
- Overall responsibility to ensure that RDM has all its relevant QHSE related Permits, licenses, certificates and authorizations required to operate (“Licence to operate”).
- Ensure that RDM KPI Quality targets are met as per organisational objectives and targets.
- Implement effective quality assurance procedures to identify and address defects or deviations from specifications.
- Continuously review and improve existing quality assurance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work strongly with operations teams in ensuring scrap and rework limits are minimised.
- Identify root causes of quality issues and work with relevant teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyse quality metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and report findings to senior management.
- Manage & compile OPEX budget for department and ensure financial targets are achieved.
- Manage and compile CAPEX budget for department, as required.
- Recommend, support and implement continuous improvement activities, processes and procedure to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements expected by the company and the customer.
- Ability to manage; change, people, knowledge, risk and stakeholders.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Bachelors or Equivalent NQF 7 in QHSE, Science or Engineering.
- Training in and demonstrated knowledge and experience of ISO systems (4001, 45001 and 9001).
- Certified ISO Auditor.
- At least 10+ year’s relevant experience in the management of quality, safety, health and environmental management within a medium to large organisation.
- Experience within a chemical/petrochemical environment an added advantage.
- An in-depth understanding and working knowledge of safety, health and environmental legislation (in particular, the OHS Act, National Environmental Management Act and related regulations.
- Experience in the development and implementation of a QHSE vision, strategies and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Technical competencies primarily in the field of ISO Quality and / or Business Management
- Experience and knowledge of Explosives Regulations a plus.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management with excellent negotiation interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Good analysis, planning, integration and resource management skills.
