**Job Description**:

- The purpose of the Geophysics Manager is to manage a geophysical services department and to provide ventures with specialist geophysical inputs and outputs that support decision making at various phases of exploration to forward the discovery and evaluation of diamond resources.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Alignment of geophysics practices and activities with Group Exploration Strategy. Formulate and implement operational strategy for delivering geophysical services to De Beers Exploration.
- Advise and provide specialist input in respect of geophysics to exploration teams in order to decide on further work on target/areas anomalies or discoveries.
- Effective oversight on the planning of geophysics surveys, coordination, and field execution of such surveys in line with G&E and other function’s plans.
- Conducting regular operational assessments and reviews with the functional area.
- Definition of standards and governance, including leading practice guidelines and procedure and effective implementation of geophysics governance across De Beers Exploration.
- Process, interpret and integrate various types of geophysical data including magnetic, electromagnetic and gravity data; select, grade and model geophysical anomalies and propose drill hole positions.
- Conduct specialized forward and inversion modelling to obtain detailed 3D geophysical models.
- Integrate modelling and interpretation products with other datasets (petrology, structure, mineral chemistry) in collaboration with other specialists/stakeholders (field geologists, petrologist, structural geologists, geochemists etc.) either as part of Technical Reviews or for active venture projects.
- Provide geophysical services to the ventures and specialists by designing fit for purpose geophysics surveys (airborne and ground) to inform exploration e.g., understands the granularity of information needed and scopes surveys accordingly.
- Effective planning & budgeting of geophysics activities.
- Qualifications
- BSc Honors degree in Geophysics (MSc/PhD would be an advantage).
- Registered professional in a recognized body (e.g., SACNASP) or eligible for such registration.

**Knowledge and Experience required**:

- 8 -12 years relevant experience working in the geophysical field, preferably with significant experience in kimberlite exploration.
- Deep understanding of mineral exploration processes and integration of multidisciplinary data for kimberlite exploration.
- Advanced levels of experience and expertise of geophysics techniques, survey planning, 3D modelling and data interpretation for potential field and EM data.
- Proven data management and data analysis experience.
- Proven track record in participating in major project and/or operational reviews.
- Proven data quality control and data assurance experience for airborne and ground geophysical surveys.
- Proven people and project management experience.
- Driver's license.
