SLR has an opportunity for an experienced Consultant (Associate Hydrogeologist) who is an enthusiastic, multitasking individual with high level of energy, who is a team player with initiative to join our Land and Water Service Line. He/She will be part of a team of water specialists delivering groundwater services for various clients served within mining & minerals, energy, Industry, power and infrastructure sectors across SADC and Africa.

The Consultant (Associate Hydrogeologist) will be responsible independently and with Junior hydrogeologists in managing complex multidiscipline projects and resources to ensure quality, cost effective as well as on-time completion. He/She will be responsible for setting up new projects, client relationships and issuing proposals, business development and project implementation. He/She must demonstrate strong knowledge, proficiency of: hydrogeology withing sectors such as mining, industry, renewable and infrastructure; specialist input to Environmental Social Impact Assessments processes and application of numerical models as decision making tools withing the ESIA, mining hydrogeology and water supply context; application of geophysical methods, amongst others, for groundwater development; conduct scopes of work according to water sector regulatory requirements for successful implementation of projects; be able to work effectively and participate in project management (methodology, proposal/ report compilation, budget control, timely completing of project, write-offs presentation skills etc.), can problem solve, work as part of a team, and independently where appropriate.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science (BSc), Hydrogeology/Geology / Earth Science. 10-15 years’ experience in hydrogeology, with at least 5 years working experience managing multi-disciplinary projects within mining & minerals, energy, Industry, power and infrastructure sectors across SADC and Africa.  Proficiency in application of geophysical methods to develop groundwater (EM, HLEM,etc)  Proficiency in application of water and environmental acts and regulations within mining & minerals, energy, Industry, power and infrastructure sectors across SADC and Africa. Proficiency in MS Office. Proficiency in any of the GIS packages: ArcGis/MapInfo/QGIS. Proficiency in any of any test pumping of hydrochemistry analysis packages Valid driver’s license.  Key Responsibilities Responsibilities Contribute to the development of proposal and other business development activities, establishing new client relations as well as maintaining existing ones.  Collect and process hydrogeological data, other technical data, spatial information, and historical documents, to execute specialist input and advisory projects Conduct groundwater development projects through collection and process hydrogeological data, other technical data, spatial information, and historical documents, geophysical/physical borehole siting, drilling/test pumping supervision, procurement and management of contractors/subcontractors Writing technical reports and presenting findings to clients, regulators and ither stakeholders when required. Developing of conceptual models based on client requirements, environmental, geological and hydrogeological factors. Specialist input into groundwater and surface numerical modelling and technical report writing. Specialist input into Environmental Social Impact Assessment process and associated technical report writing Internal project management and liaison with project managers, clients, and authorities. Delivery quality work on time and in budget for a variety of clients. Perform geological, hydro(geo)logical geotechnical field work such as, hydrocensus, drilling and test pumping supervision, etc. when necessary. Skills/ Attributes Good communication and interpersonal skills in English - written and verbal. Excellent time management skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
