**Job Description**:

- Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Develop and implement hydrogeological strategies and plans to support mining operations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement dewatering systems for mine sites.
- Assess potential risks and impacts of mining activities on local water resources.
- Provide expert advice on hydrogeological matters, including water use and water management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and permits related to water resources.
- Analyse and interpret hydrogeological data to support operational decision-making.
- Participate in environmental impact assessments and stakeholder consultations.
- Identify opportunities for water conservation and sustainable water use practices in mining operations.
- Review and regularly update conceptual and numerical hydrogeological models.
- Ensure that integration of hydrogeological data with other large and diverse geoscience data sets (such as geochemistry and geophysics) and the site wide water balance is performed so that step-changes in interpretation of relevant water systems are achieved, enabling identification and actualisation of subsequent value opportunities (as well as identification and mitigation of value destruction risks)
- Ensure that understanding of important aspects of hydrogeology are summarised and effectively communicated to water and environmental managers.
- Together with group, work on the development of dewatering strategy, business planning and resourcing plans for operations and business corporate centre.
- Direct and assist operations with the interpretation and conceptualisation of hydrogeological data.
- Review, recommend and guide appropriate hydrogeological programs and studies in order for mines and projects to identify and deliver step-change opportunities in value and identify possible value destructive risks.
- Undertake reviews and audits and participate in technical assurance tasks related to mine dewatering, water ingress management and post-closure water liability assessment.
- Scope, manage and sign-off water initiatives (hydrogeology and data management)
- Continuously investigate new technology to improve hydrogeological data collection and interpretation.
- Collaboration with Anglo American Technical Water Management team on Group Standards, guidelines, specifications, frameworks and best practice principles
- Monitor the performance of relevant systems and processes to evaluate if changes are necessary and/or effective. Responsible for all reporting compilation for Anglo American Platinum, and review and sign off for the operations

**This role is a Band 5 reporting to the Senior Manager Technical Mining.**

**Qualifications
- You will need the following**:

- Minimum requirement: Bachelor degree in Geology/Hydrogeology
- SAMRASS code - Desirable/advantageous
- A postgraduate qualification - Honours, Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent - Desirable/advantageous

**Experience**:

- More than 7 years relevant experience
- Expert knowledge in geology with specialisation in hydrogeology in the mining industry with proven track record of developing and implementing strategies successfully.
