Duties/Pligte
- Strategiese ontwikkeling en toesig, en opdatering van die CST-webwerf, insluitend om inhoud op datum te hou, nuusartikels te skryf (gebaseer op CST-joernaalartikels, tesisse, populêre media en onderhoude), die kommunikasie van opkomende gebeure, die bestuur van die blog (skryf plasings of redigeer plasings geskryf deur personeel en studente), en die bestuur van die CST se sosiale media-rekeninge. Handhaaf strategiese belyning met die Universiteit Stellenbosch se uitreikprogramme en handelsmerk;
- Projekbestuur van die ontwikkeling van CST-publikasies, soos gedrukte verslae, beleidsopdragte, brosjures en die jaarlikse oorsig/verslag. Dit sluit die bestuur van alle aspekte van die publikasieproduksie in, insluitend skakeling met navorsers, ontwerpers en kopie-redakteurs om dokumente wat drukgereed is vir fisiese en digitale verspreiding te produseer, en die verkryging van toepaslike diensverskaffers om doelwitte te bereik;
- Ontwikkel populêre wetenskaplike materiaal deur die wetenskaplike werk van die CST te vertaal in verteerbare, verstaanbare kopie of kort video's vir die breër publiek vir verspreiding deur verskeie media, insluitend die webwerf, sosiale media, uitsending, aanlyn en gedrukte publikasies sowel as deur die CST se publikasies;
- Mediaskakeling, insluitend die skryf, teiken en uitreik van nuusvrystellings en artikels, skakeling met toepaslike media vir die publikasie van nuusvrystellings en artikels, die opstel van onderhoude, reageer op medianavrae, en die bevordering van CST se personeel as kundige kommentators in uitsaai
- en gedrukte media. Skakel ook met die Universiteit Stellenbosch se media en verwante kantore;
- Hulpverlening met die bemarking van die CST se akademiese programme, insluitend toesig oor die skep van strooibiljette, sosiale media-plasings en die jaarlikse prospektus;
- Hulpverlening met die kommunikasiebehoeftes van die CST se ekstern befondsde projekte. Die CST bestuur 'n aantal eksterne webwerwe en poslyste, insluitend dié van sapecs.org en goodanthropocenes.org en verwante sosiale media-rekeninge. Hierdie werk kan wissel van ondersteuning met die opdatering van webwerwe, die bestuur van sosiale media, die skryf van nuusartikels en persvrystellings, en die opdatering van die verwante poslyste, onder andere.
- Strategic development and oversight, and updating the CST website, including keeping content up to date, writing news articles (based on CST journal articles, theses, popular media and interviews), communicating upcoming events, managing the blog (writing posts or editing posts written by staff and students), and managing the CST's social media accounts. Maintaining strategic alignment with Stellenbosch University¿s outreach and branding.
- Project management of the development of CST publications, such as printed reports, policy briefs, brochures, and the annual review. This includes managing all aspects of the publication production, including liaising with researchers, designers and copy editors to produce print ready documents for physical and digital dissemination, and sourcing appropriate service providers to achieve objectives;
- Developing popular science materials, by translating the scientific work of the CST into digestible, understandable copy or short videos for the broader public for dissemination through various media, including the website, social media, broadcast, online and print publications as well as through CST publications;
- Liaising with the media, including writing, targeting and issuing news releases and articles, liaising with relevant media for the publication of news releases and articles, setting up interviews, responding to media enquiries, and promoting CST staff as expert commentators in broadcast and print media. Liaising with the Stellenbosch University media and related offices;
- Assisting with the marketing of the CST's academic programmes, including overseeing the creation of fliers, social media posts, and the annual prospectus;
- Assisting with the communication needs of CST's externally funded projects. The CST manages several external websites and mailing lists including those of sapecs.org and goodanthropocenes.org and related social media accounts. This work may range from providing support in updating websites, managing social media, writing news articles and press releases, and updating the related mailing lists, amongst others.
