Key responsibilities of the University’s Quality Assurance directorate are to lead, plan, monitor and maintain the Quality Assurance and Management Information Systems for the University, including ensuing compliance and conformance to policies in terms of the Department of Higher Education and Training, the Council on Higher Education, the South African Qualifications Authority and relevant professional bodies.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Managing the cyclical review of programmes in conjunction with the University’s quality assurance framework, demonstrating collaboration with the Academic Planning Unit (APU). This includes interacting with key stakeholders, facilitating capacity development workshops in line with the programme review processes, coordinating the schedule for programme reviews and supporting the development of programme review reports.
- Ensuring that action plans for programme improvement are drafted by faculty, approved by Senate and that the interventions are implemented and monitored on a regular basis.
- Track and consolidate curriculum changes by programme/s and work with the faculties and the Academic Planning Unit to monitor the extent of changes made as a result of the outcomes of programme reviews.
- In conjunction with the APU, offer workshops to support the design of new programmes and the amendment of existing programmes in accordance with regulatory requirements and processes.
- Track new programme approval, accreditation and registration.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement in support of the University’s academic mandate and aspirations.
- Quality Promotion Managers will also be required to support regulatory site visits and quality assurance audits, and, amongst others, this entails:
- Assisting departments to coordinate the planning and preparation for regulatory site visits and audits and support departments in the development of the required self-evaluation reports.
- Support the processes to determine the extent to which the University is meeting regulatory requirements and standards set by accrediting bodies and identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations for enhancing processes, practices, and systems.
**Minimum Requirements**
**Minimum requirements** (qualification and experience):
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification (NQF level 7). Preference will be given to applicants in possession of an Honours or Masters degree
- At least three years in a similar position which has included programme accreditation and programme reviews and/or curriculum design and development
**Required competencies **(skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):
- High level of computer literacy
- Project planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills.
- Ability to understand curriculum content for a higher education qualification.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.-
