Legal Secretary

Johannesburg

**Purpose**

To coordinate the activities of the legal & compliance department to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.

**Key Performance Areas**:

- Legal Administration
- Stakeholder Liaison
- General Administration

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist the Compliance Manager with various tasks, including preparing legal documents, filing of documents, and drafting correspondence.
- Draft, proofread, and file or send legal documents, such as motions or letters of intent etc.
- Compose routine letters and memorandums and prepare reports using knowledge of work area instructions and guidelines.
- Prepare documents required for litigation (e.g., trial preparation, Note of Issue).
- Assist with filing of legal documents with courts, government agencies, and other relevant entities.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive legal information and client communications.
- Maintain and manage the Legal Manager’s dairy.
- Serve as a first point of contact for the Legal department, ensure queries are resolve timeously.
- Coordinate audio/video and other equipment for virtual meetings and conferences.
- Build and maintain relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and track changes in laws and legislation and updating relevant parties when necessary.
- Provide support on any adhoc projects in the compliance department.
- Perform other related duties, including basic legal research and proofreading legal documents when required.
- Review legal documents to ensure they are in proper format and contain all necessary portions or related documents for court acceptance, files legal documents with proper courts.
- Act as a custodian for all legal templates, ensuring they are used correctly.
- Complete time sensitive materials with the required urgency.

**Skills Required**:

- Any relevant Post Matric certification
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in compliance, focusing in fleet management
