**JOB PURPOSE**

The position reports directly to the CEO and will form part of the PLS ExCo team.

The overall development, performance and growth of PLS to obtain the maximum return on investment and customer satisfaction.

Hands on coordination of the design, industrialisation, supply chain, logistics, production, quality and programme management functions to ensure on scope, on time and on budget delivery and doing whatever it takes to make this happen

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- A highly tactical leader that will get his/her hands dirty from day one, quickly making sense of a complex environment with immature systems, processes, designs and a lot of systemic issues, cutting through the noise, unblocking blockages and coming up with a game plan to close the gaps FAST
- Implementing short interval controls and monitoring and driving progress on a day to day basis
- The person will be regarded as the conductor of the orchestra and have to ensure they get first-hand information on a daily basis, that they know, understand, communicate and drive the critical path items relentlessly.
- Taking personal accountability, always leading by example. Ensuring the team understands the why, what and how and holding them accountable.
- Manage the manufacturing business through SmartSheet (common execution platform), daily scrums with the key areas (production, engineering, support) so that there is no place to hide, giving his/her best and expecting the same from their team
- Assist in the identification of outsourced licenced and portable manufacturing opportunities ensuring PLS is manufacturing ready.
- Complete viability study, cost-benefit analysis and recommend and implement course of action.
- Ensure IP and vehicle in a box package is fully developed on time and on budget for all vehicle types.
- Responsible for engineering, design and configuration management. Ensure all engineering baselines and work breakdown structures are completed for all products. Ensure value engineering is implemented, optimised and maximum savings realised.
- Ensuring the logistics is seamless and that the critical path items are top of mind and driven on a day to day basis, no excuses
- Identify strategic partners and conclude strategic partnership agreements.
- Identify strategic suppliers and supplier networks, optimise supply chain and maximise saving.

**Formal Qualifications**:

- Engineering degree (preferably mechanical or industrial)
- Commercial degree or equivalent (i.e. MBA, Finance)
- Degree in Operations Management will be an added advantage
- Program Management qualification will be an added advantage

**Experience**:

- 10-15 years’ experience in automotive, manufacturing of heavy industrial equipment or plant or similar environment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience on Senior Management
- Experience in business start-up and/or business re-engineering and/or business turnaround.
- Experience in working for a multi-national company
- Proven track record of playing to win
