RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:

- Teaching in and coordinating the following modules offered by the Department of Public Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, which involve taking a contextual and transformative approach:

- Constitutional Law;
- Human Rights Law (Bill of Rights);
- Conducting academic scholarly research;
- Engaging with the community through teaching, supervision and research that is embedded in and responsive to the African and South African social context;
- Having an in-depth understanding of own area of specialisation to enable development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field;
- Supervising masters’ students;
- Mentoring students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Academic administration and management;
- Performing other duties as delegated by Head of the Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- LLM (preferably by full dissertation) in the discipline of Constitutional Law or related areas in law;
- Relevant tertiary teaching experience will be a strong recommendation;
- Accredited quality publication/s will be a strong recommendation;
- Relevant academic administration experience will be a strong recommendation.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;
- Appropriate communication skills;
- Willingness to learn (i.e., Learning Management System and the use of technology enhancing learning);
- Leadership Skills;
- Computer literacy.

ADDED ADVANTAGES:

- Administrative Law;
- Some experience in online teaching and learning.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
