Hotel Bookkeeper

A boutique hotel situated in Cape Town is seeking a Hotel Bookkeeper to fulfill the following duties:
- Daily Cash-ups: Physical cash, credit card reconciliations following up on any discrepancies.
- Balancing petty cash, card slips, and other income with revenue.
- Processing creditor's invoices on the accounting system
- Balancing creditors against monthly statements, following up on monthly statements, invoices, and outstanding credit notes.
- Reconciliations of bank statements, loading payments, and recording thereof
- Accurate importing of all transactions to Sage.
- Compiling of payment schedules and ensuring all suppliers and debit orders are paid
- timeously.
- Compiling of reports at month end, sending through to accounting firm.
- Bookings deposit reconciliations, posting of deposits.
- Monitoring and control of postings on the Reservations system.
- Preparation of monthly wages, calculation of overtime, tips, and unpaid leave (to be sent on to accounting firm)
- HR department administration, record keeping, and filing.
- Record and control of staff leave & sick days.
- General Administration of business and staff documentation, filing, compiling documents,reports, etc.
- Controls and Procedures; To ensure that the established controls and procedures in respect
- of the controller’s areas of responsibility are being complied with at all times.
- Willing to undertake any reasonable request or complete a delegate
**Requirements**:
- SA Citizen
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification
- Bookkeeping / Accounting qualification
- Previous hospitality experience in a similar role
- Computer literate in MS Office and preferably SAGE
- Strong financial acumen
- A high attention to detail
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Can work independently
- Deadline driven
- Clear credit and criminal record
