**About the role**

As a Junior Bookkeeper at Totalstay, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our operations. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to support our Senior Bookkeeper and Finance Manager, ensuring the smooth financial running of our business.

**What you will do in this role**
- This job profile is not an exclusive list of responsibilities and could be changed from time-to-time per business requirements._
- Daily | All bank feeds are updated on Xero (all payments and receipts captured in Xero).
- Daily | Processing of revenue and expense recovery invoices.
- Daily | Processing of supplier invoices via Dext to Xero.
- Weekly | Reconciliations of accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank balances and cash on hand balances, for review by the Senior Bookkeeper.
- Weekly | Preparation of supplier payment schedule for processing by Senior Bookkeeper.
- Weekly | Follow up on deposits outstanding with guest relations and reservations teams.
- Weekly | Updating relevant weekly reports to Senior Bookkeeper and Finance Manager.
- Ad hoc | Maintenance of fixed asset register and reconciliation with insurance schedules as well as the general ledger.
- Ad hoc | Act as the initial point of contact between reservations and finance teams for finance-related queries.
- Ad hoc | General assistance to the Senior Bookkeeper and Finance Manager as required.

**What you will need for this role**
- Grade 12 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a basic bookkeeping function (A degree / diploma in accounting would be advantageous).
- Working knowledge of accounting packages like Sage, Pastel, AccPac, etc. (preferably Xero), together with basic VAT understanding.
- Working knowledge of a recognized property management system would be advantageous.
- Well spoken, good communication skills, verbal and written in English and Afrikaans.
- Must have Excel / Google Sheets experience.
- Must be able to work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be able to work as part of a team, but also independently as required.
- Must be able to manage your own time based on set milestones effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail is non-negotiable.
