General Worker

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**

The General Worker is responsible for the general maintenance and appearance of the grounds, gardens and buildings. This includes weeding, planting, pruning and watering the garden, as well as cleaning and maintaining the office and grounds.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Gardening**
- Fertilise the lawn
- Prune and cut the trees, hedges and bushes
- Plant and transplant flowers, trees and various plants
- Water the garden on a regular basis
- Ensure the grass is mowed on a regular basis and the edges trimmed
- **Cleaning - outdoors**
- Maintain the outdoor areas, ensuring general cleanliness.
- Clean all patio and outdoor furniture
- Remove weeds from the paving and flower beds and pick up leaves
- Sweep the walkways and paving areas
- Keep the gardens, thoroughfares are footpaths clear and free from litter
- **Cleaning - indoors**
- Remove rubbish from bins and empty all shredders
- Vacuum all carpets, mats chairs and couches
- Mop all hard floors with disinfectant
- Dust and remove cobwebs from office areas
- Spot clean walls and painted surface
- Toilets and urinals to be cleaned and disinfected and wiped dry daily
- Clean and sanitise the sink, fixtures, counters and tables
- Wash all dishes, cups, cutlery, plates etc
- **Maintenance**
- Perform routine maintenance and take preventative maintenance actions on buildings and machinery to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and systems.
- Conduct the basic servicing and repair of all machinery
- Report problems or equipment malfunctions to management as and when noticed
- Make sure that all garden equipment is correctly maintained and serviced
- Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
- **Safeguarding of Company Property**
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained in good working order and stored in a safe place
- Keep the tool shed / store room clean and tidy
- **Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Responsibilities**
- Report any deviations that could lead to an accident
- Participate in Safety Training to improve safety standards
- Report incidents and accidents before the end of a shift
- Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety policy and procedure
- Look after your own safety and that of other employees
- Ensure that the SHEQ Management System requirements are met towards customer, internal, ISO, regulatory / legal requirements.
- Manage and perform all internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the Organization's products.
- Work with Customers, Colleagues and Contractors towards continual improvement of the Management system and report the need for improvement to Management.
- Keep up standards and regulations with respect to Products and Services
- **Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities in line with your capabilities and at the request of your Superior**

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a gardener
- Must be hard working
- Must be able to communicate in English or Afrikaans
- Must be able to follow instructions

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Durbanville, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
