Duties/Pligte
- Leading, facilitating and coordinating the health and wellbeing strategy implementation and priority projects across SU environments;
- Collaborating with deans and responsibility centre heads to ensure relevant and appropriate value-adding wellbeing services;
- Overseeing institution-wide health and wellbeing activities as custodian of the health and wellbeing strategy, reporting to the executive management and governance structures;
- Appropriate reporting and presentations to executive management and governance structures of the University;
- Facilitating and providing an oversight role in collaboration with various entities in the faculties and responsibility centres to ensure statutory compliance as it relates to Occupational Health and Safety;
- In addition to strategy implementation and reporting, overall resource management inclusive of human resources, financial management, infrastructure, and consumables relating to the operations of CHS;
- Representing the University and CHS at various SU external forums, enhancing the social impact imperative of the Division, and building relationships with partners in a local and international context;
- Staying abreast of national and international trends/latest developments within health services, and ensuring the translation of relevant information and knowledge as it applies to SU;
- Ensuring that SU has a comprehensive infectious disease outbreak response plan, and taking the lead in developing appropriate health infectious diseases outbreak responses, whilst considering local, national, and international variables.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- MBChB degree;
- At least ten years' proven experience at management level in a similar sized health provider organisation;
- Knowledge and insight of applicable legislative and compliance frameworks and requirements within health and safety;
- Both strategy development and operational implementation skills at an institutional/corporate level;
- Proven capacity to provide dynamic and strategic leadership in the areas of responsibility, including strategic planning and implementing abilities, human resource management, the management of change, risk, budgets, and operational plans;
- A track record of sustaining and developing appropriate networks and partnerships;
- Demonstrated ability to successfully direct, coordinate and strategically integrate multiple projects at an institutional level;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, and embracing and functioning effectively in a multicultural and multilingual context;
- Sound interpersonal relations and the ability to lead the team;
- The ability to represent the University's interest at local, regional, national, and international level, which may include travel.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- MMed, master's degree in health science and/or MBA/MBL;
- Experience within the Higher Education sector.
