This communications and PR officer within this prominent children’s healthcare and medical facility, will be involved in a variety of aspects pertaining to development of funding, promotion and implementation of the communications strategy and the practical marketing, brand management and media management across various platforms. You will have previously been involved in the non-profit sector with a strong focus on care of existing donors, generation of new donors through various fundraising activities, managing the organisational reputation and ensuring that the organisation reaches its fundraising and also its communications strategy goals.

**The required overall duties and responsibilities will be**:
- Plan, develop and implement effective and targeted communications, PR and marketing strategies and implementation of plans that are aligned with organisational strategy and donor segments (corporate, individuals, community fundraisers, legacies, foundations and trusts).
Research and identify PR, Events (in-person and digital) and advertising opportunities including pro-bono advertising and publicity opportunities, and manage the relevant budgets in line with Return on Investments.
Visit the hospital regularly to engage with hospital staff, patients, and parents to collect storytelling content.
Write and edit all internal and donor content for press releases, talking points, presentations, adverts and other materials.
Create positive coverage for the organisation across national and international media platforms.
Media placements, media events and pitching stories; creating on-brand marketing communication and correspondence.
Plan, implement and manage internal and external events and donor events, including sourcing and managing speaking opportunities for the organisation.
Co-ordinate internal/external communications flow (memo’s stakeholder communications, internal campaign information)
Collaborate with organisation’s content Creator and videographer/photographer for all video, and radio production
Monitor PR and advertising metrics and monthly reporting
Assist with community fundraising events and other activities in collaboration with the content creator.

**Skills and qualifications required**:
Public relations degree/diploma or related qualification and a minimum of five years working experience in a PR and creative communications environment, requiring successful creation and implementation of communication strategies.
Qualification in marketing communication and Project Management will be an added advantage
Must be highly skilled is MS Office at advanced level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Bilingualism or multilingualism in more than one of the South African languages will be an advantage
Extensive work within public relations strategies and principles, as well as proven reputation management expertise
Sound experience in analysing PR data, and report writing,
Ability to recognise and build valuable, long-term professional relationships, identify opportunities to achieve goals.
Experience in conducting media interviews and very comfortable speaking in public.
Excellent project management skills, deadline driven and strong attention to detail
Sound ability to identify newsworthy content, PR opportunities.
Fully understand the synergy between PR and marketing, and the power of Branding and USP in communications.
Must be able to work within a hospital environment, and have a flexible and adaptable working style.
Knowledge of how to influence and guide various types of media (media management), appropriate to the target market.
Ability to shape the organisation’s image and values, as well as appropriate methods to communicate them to the public.
Experience in negotiating pro bono and discounted media placements
Experience in in-person and digital Event Planning and facilitating logistics of events, and good problem solving skills.
Experience in using traditional and digital media platforms.
Creative out of the box thinking - displaying innovative ways of working
Must have drivers licence and own vehicle

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Excellent communications experience of at least five years post degree, especaill strong English and Afrikaans and possibly anothe South African language.
Technical skills on anlaytics, and also strong social media skills across all platforms.
