**CAREER OPPORTUNITY - FRANSCHHOEK ENVIRONMENT**
**GENERAL MANAGER**
Our client, a well-known and established wine and herbs estate located in Franschhoek, has a vacant position for a **GENERAL MANAGER**.
The estate produces well-known wines and herbs and has an upmarket restaurant and tasting room where the wines and farm produce can be enjoyed. The estate is also renowned for its facilities and gardens which are open for events such as weddings, year-end functions, lunches and picnics. The estate also provides several upmarket holiday cottages.
The General Manager position consists of a diverse portfolio in terms of wine produce, hospitality, events, and herbs.
**Minimum Job Requirements and skills**:
- CA (SA), MBA or equivalent.
- 5 - 10 years’ successful experience in business management.
- Fully bilingual (English & Afrikaans).
- Strong analytical and financial skills.
- Strong inter-personal skills.
- Passion for and knowledge of running a business.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively foster teamwork and achieve performance excellence.
**Other & Person Specification**:
- Own reliable car and valid driver’s license
- Reside in close proximity to Franschhoek, beneficial.
- Effective verbal, written and listening communications skills.
- Professional personal appearance and work conduct.
- Adaptable, positive attitude.
- Extreme accuracy in executing tasks.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Clear criminal record with no convictions.
**Key Responsibilities, but not limited to**:
- **Achievement of strategic goals and business objectives**:
- Preparation of Annual strategy for all divisions for shareholder approval.
- Estate management in terms of agreed strategic objectives for each business division and overall financial results.
- Monthly MER meetings with senior management and shareholders.
- Oversee major projects undertaken by the businesses, from a financial and operational point of view.
- Work with divisional managers daily to achieve their business unit objectives.
- Negotiate and conclude annual contracts (Insurance, Security, etc).
- Together with directors, ensure all company fiduciary responsibilities are maintained (Co Act, OHS, etc)
- Ensure implementation and compliance in terms of all statutory / legal requirements from all government departments, including SARS and the Department of Employment and Labour.
- Primarily responsible for the Company’s moveable and immovable assets in terms of maintenance, utilization, and safekeeping.
**Achievement of financial goals**:
- Preparation of Annual budget for all divisions for board approval, including investment plans.
- Estate management within constraints of budget in terms of the business divisions:
- Wines
- Farm
- Herbs
- Hospitality
- Annual audit/review to be managed.
- Report monthly results (MER) before the 25th for the following month.
- Manage cash flow, draft fund requests for shortfalls timeously.
- Take responsibility for company banking and liaise with bankers.
**People & Labour management**:
- Offer leadership, direction and guidance to all Allée Bleue staff.
- Motivate and empower staff to reach company goals.
- Ensure all staff conduct themselves in terms of company values, policies and procedures.
- Ensure statutory labour plans and submissions done (EE, SDL, OHS, etc).
- Negotiate annual salary and wage increases with directors, staff and unions, as required.
