**About the Position**
Dimagi is looking for a Director of People Operations for the Africa region to join our global People Operations team. This position will be based out of our Cape Town office in South Africa.
The Director of People Operations will work closely with the Global Directors of People Operations, Country Management Team(s), and Managing Directors of Divisions to maintain and enhance our human resources operations in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The region has a large employee base (75+) in Africa and about 5+ employees and contractors in the UK and Europe. In addition to supporting initiatives across a range of areas for Dimagi, including: employee relations; HR policies, processes & compliance; benefits and compensation; the role also engages with the divisions to support the divisional leadership team(s) on people operations issues within the region
This position will report to the Global Co-Director of People Operations based at our Delhi Office in India. This is a great opportunity for someone with extensive People Operations experience who wants to work for an impact-focused organization, and is excited by the challenges of managing People Operations for about 80-100 employees. Proven experience successfully managing People Operations within the Africa region is highly desired for success in this role.
**What You’ll Do**
**People Operations**:

- Manage Human Resources at Dimagi South Africa and team members in the EMEA Region and serve as the regional people operations lead on all personnel/HR related questions in the region.
- Maintain and evolve Dimagi’s HR policies and processes within the region.
- Manage complex HR issues, and be the front line for HR complaints, concerns, or suggestions in the region
- Coordinate with Professional Employment Organizations (PEOs) for hiring and managing employees in locations where Dimagi does not have a legal hiring entity.
- Lead the review and submissions of Employment Equity Plan, Workplace Skills Plan and other submissions as per the South African entity’s BEE status, statutory SETA requirements and Skills Development Act.
- Working closely with the employees and contractors in the region for visa renewals and to ensure that all employees and contractors have valid working permits.
- Support planning and coordination of company events e.g. Social Fridays, summits and workshops

**Payroll & Benefits**:

- Manage monthly payroll and payroll compliance, including managing a 3rd party payroll vendor
- Lead review of Dimagi South Africa benefits, integrating broader company goals and market data

**Team Management and Team Operations**:

- Directly manage people operations administrators and associates and work with them to support their career growth
- Manage the team and provide guidance on general office management, managing and coordinating onboarding for new-hires and off-boarding for employees leaving the organization, day-to-day administration of our office. This includes maintaining relationships with external vendors, internal IT vendor management, and designing and managing processes for staff to get IT support as needed

**Strategic and Other Divisional Support**:

- Drive regional implementation of global / divisional initiatives
- Support the Global Directors on strategic initiatives and where required facilitate regional alignment for successful implementation of new initiatives
- Work together with the Dimagi’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) council and all other divisions to drive forward Dimagi’s improvements in DEI

**Relevant Skills**
- Strong track record and experience in a senior role in Human Resources, with focus on local labor legislation is South Africa
- Experience working with a global team and understanding of HR best practices within Africa
- Strong working knowledge of applicable visa categories in countries within Africa
- Strong track record leading HR, including:

- Developing and implementing HR policies
- Managing employee relations and HR concerns
- Managing HR processes, such as benefit administration and payroll
