**Machine Shop Manager**

Our client, in Vanderbijlpark, a blue chip company in Manufacturing is looking for a person with the following:
We are looking for a person **who started as a Fitter & Turner Artisan, then worked himself up as Foreman, and then later as a Machine Shop Manager/Superintendent.**

The Machine shop manager is responsible but not limited to the following.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Grade 12 or N3 qualification
- National Diploma or B Tech in a Engineering discipline
- Must have experience in a Machine Shop - requirement
- Must be computer literate
- Machining is the main function of a machine shop, and also need a thorough understanding of machining processes, equipment technology, shop procedures and how to read mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and local safety and health regulations about safe use of machine tools and PPE is also necessary.
- Housekeeping and play an active role in safety awareness.
- Successful work as a Machine Shop Manager typically requires hands-on experience that will be gained over several years by working in a machine shop, working with machine tools or doing similar work in a manufacturing environment.
- The following experience will be an advantage: Computer Numerical Control (CNC), CNC Programming., Lean manufacturing

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Oversee machining activities
- Managing of employees very important
- Manage costs and expenses through process efficiencies.
- Make sure the proper equipment and tooling is on hand and ready to meet production demands.
- Analyse and adjust work schedules.
- Solve production problems.
- Handle quality issues.
- Manage customer machining interactions.
- “Employee personnel matters” will also be his responsibility.
- Plan for employee training and skill development and handle disciplinary issues.
- Making sure operations align with company policies and procedures is also part of the job.
- The Machine shop manager must understand and use effective leadership principles to get the job done.
- Need excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers, suppliers, and employees across all levels, including sales and marketing, engineering, maintenance, and human resources.
- Investigation: Overspending, Injuries, Property damage, Non-conformances, route cause analysis, corrective actions.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Experience**:
