**Fitter and Turner X 2**

**Our client, a blue chip company based in Vanderbijlpark has a vacancy for an experienced artisan with the following**:
Maintenance of machinery and plant to ensure continued mechanical operation and performance

within a Lean Manufacturing environment. Ensure that all maintenance operations are conducted

within the quality, health, and safety requirements of the company.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Matric (Standard 10) or recognized equivalent qualification.
- Relevant Trade certification (Fitting and Turning)

**EXPERIENCE**
- 10 - 15 years working experience in FMCG or a manufacturing environment with sound

mechanical and turning knowledge.
- Must have experience of making components on the lathe, milling and other workshop

Machines
- Must have experience in fault finding and trouble shooting.
- Be able to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and schematic drawings.
- Good working knowledge and experience in **plastics (blow-moulding) manufacturing and / or cold roll steel forming or pressing environment.**
- Good understanding of various mechanical systems - **chain driven systems: - gear boxes, cams, conveyors, sprockets, gears, chains, belts, bearings, bushes, knowledge of cold rolling of steel will be a definite advantage, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Valves**
- Have a working knowledge of press operations and maintenance.
- Exposure in a drum manufacturing environment.
- **Exposure to world class manufacturing techniques like Lean Manufacturing, TPM and Six Sigma.**
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance systems and their upkeep.
- Extensive knowledge of laws related to electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to liaise effectively with suppliers for spares specifications and requirements.

**REQUIRED COMPETENCIES**

Adhere to and uphold the company’s vision and Mission Statement and principles.

Be prepared to work overtime and be placed on standby when required.

Able to demonstrate good communication skills and be fully literate in English.

Fault finding and troubleshooting aptitude.

Attention to detail.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, machinery etc.
- Maintenance of machinery and plant to ensure continued mechanical operation.
- TPM, running electronic Tests, cleaning contacts, circuit boards, replacing worn components and performing routine inspections.
- Daily & weekly maintenance of cleaning filter cloths on motors and Air-con units on machines.
- Report to the Maintenance Manager any problems or faults occurring within the plant.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the

need for adjustment or repair.
- To comply with the standby schedule, safety requirements as prescribed by the company and any requirements of the OHS Act that is indicated as your responsibilities by the Maintenance Manager.

**Experience**:

- FMCG or Manufacturing: 10 years (required)
- Componants on lathe,milling & other workshop machines: 5 years (required)
- Plastics or Blow molding: 4 years (required)
