Production Supervisor

**PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR x 2**

**Our client, a blue chip company based in Vanderbijlpark has a vacancy for an experienced Supervisor with the following**:
To achieve world-class manufacturing targets through sound supervisory skills in line with lean manufacturing principles contained in the company’s System.

In the process ensure that customer deliveries are met On Time and In Full cost effectively and at the right quality first time.

SUBORDINATES: Technical Operators / Key Operators / Operators / Packers, and Forklift Drivers.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Matric / Grade 12 or recognized equivalent qualification
- Production /Operations Diploma and/or artisan trade Test
- Supervisory certificate / diploma

**EXPERIENCE**:

- 3-5 years in a production / technical position within a manufacturing environment (Preferably in steel drum manufacturing).
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing techniques
- Must be fully computer literate in MS Office and LN ERP or similar system

**RESPONIBILITIES**:
Safety and People Management and Meetings
- Ensure full compliance to all national OHSA Act requirements and the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety regulations and policies.
- Responsible and accountable for complete implementation and maintenance of the “5 s’” in the department.
- Action all Internal and External Safety Audit action plans relating to your section.
- Manage direct reports according to the basic employment regulations, MEIBC Main Agreement, company policy and prescribed demonstrated HR and operations best practices (absenteeism, safety, Production and quality procedures, grievances etc.).
- Establish developmental plans for all technical operators, key operator positions; train to ensure effective temporary backup personnel and effective succession plans.
- Attend daily, weekly and monthly meetings, providing input where required.

GBS & Productivity Improvement Implementation (Work With Factory Management)
- Achieve target World Class Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) levels by the identification and elimination and documentation of “8 waste/loss buckets” areas of Lean Manufacturing.
- Ensure Progea is kept updated throughout the shift and it is used hourly /daily/monthly and also to review your performance during the shift and end of business day.
- Compile and input daily production reports /data for GPM OEE Reporting and analysis.
- Verify all information to be correct upon both receipt and return of shop packets and ensure that data inputs and raw material actuals balance to ERP LN records.
- Ensure accurate data recording on visual management boards and in line with ERP LN.
- Conducting Kaizen Events in the respective departments and compiling Weekly Progress Reports.
- Optimize daily production program in liaison with planning considering: product specs, priorities, raw materials, and line resources in terms of men and machines.
- Provide expertise for operating parameters of machines, tooling, and related manufacturing processes, utilizing the Company’s Best Practice and TIS as a Guideline.
- Strive for a measured reduction in the “8 - Waste” areas of lean manufacturing
- Optimize yield using ‘Yield Analysis” to realize savings in the 4 big yield waste areas
- Effectively manage inventory levels in liaison with Logistics and Planning
- Optimize your labour complement and utilization to give best quality of product at minimum cost and line savings based on up-to-date plant diagnostics.
- Ensure effective utilization of all lean manufacturing tools, e.g. mistake proofing, SMED, pull systems,
- Root Cause Problem Solving, optimized changeover principles.
- Provide assistance with continuous improvement projects till successful completion.
- Supervise and implement Autonomous Maintenance (machine cleaning/inspection, oiling/greasing etc.) as part of **Total Productive Maintenance**(TPM) in your department.
- Under direction of Logistics and Planning carry out Cycle Counts in your Staging locations at least 3 times in a month.

Quality Control/Inspection, PCDs, CARs and NCRs
- Ensure all products are manufactured to process or product specifications and standards and shop packet requirements.
- Evidence of any deviation to be corrected immediately.
- In partnership with materials procurement, stores and quality, ensure inputs to the manufacturing processes (steel, paints, fittings, etc.) consistently meet requirements, including mutually agreed specifications and all the specified BOM specifications.
- Inspect all Work In Progress/Finished Goods before delivering to next production stage or warehouse to ensure that the quality is correct and acceptable.
- Ensure your line operators are filling in PCDs and related docs correctly and timeously if assistance required
- Liaise with QA. Daily checks and sign offs are to be done.
- Review and analyse all PCDs for the different sections and ensure that all required corrective actions are addressed.
