Within Anglo American, Technical Solutions aims to provide a multidisciplinary Processing support function to the business, through mobilising the highest capability of people to undertake critical work on behalf of the support functions and execute assigned tasks according to scope, specification, standard and schedule.

**Job Description**:

- We are looking for a Technical Solutions Operations Manager who will be responsible for:

- Ensuring that the Technical Solutions operation runs effectively in order to produce the quality and quantity of work planned, with a time frame of 2 - 3 years’ accountability.
- To manage the operational production by creating a safe working culture.
- To optimize asset utilisation, implement new technology and manage cost efficiently.

This is a leadership role. The role is based in South Africa. You will be working across Anglo’s global portfolio of operations and projects. International travel will be a requirement of this role.

**Key role requirements**:

- Support the Head of Technical Solutions in terms of strategy development, administration and coordination of the operation.
- Be accountable for the leadership and overall performance of the operations and responsible for ensuring adequate resources and systems are available to achieve the specified levels of performance.
- Provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without risk to health of the employee in compliance to regulations.
- To manage the annual budgets for the operation.
- Ensure the correct resources are available to deliver on targets.
- Manage the production process safely, efficiently and cost effectively to meet targets.
- To drive and be accountable for continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives.
- To manage the HOD team, guide career development initiatives, competency improvements, performance management and strive to constantly improve employee morale.
- To implement identified asset optimisation and Technical initiative projects.

**Qualifications**:

- Essential: An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline (Chemical / Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent).

**Role-specific knowledge/Requirements**
- A demonstrated thought leader in at least one technical area associated with processing in the mining area.
- A track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior people leadership role within a technical environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing across a discipline, managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with task requirements.
