Top Tertiary Institution looking for a Head Lecturer for their campus in STELLENBOSCH and PARKTOWN

**Reporting to** **Programme Coordinator and Campus Academic Head**

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of a relevant Master’s degree.
- At least 7 years’ experience/development in the relevant field which would include 5 years’ experience in the tertiary education field.
- A good understanding of module content development, assessments and the facilitation of learning in the higher education sector, specifically in hybrid education.
- Industry experience would be an added advantage.

**Competencies**
The successful applicant will have the following competencies:

- Sound knowledge of curriculum/programme design and development models within the context of SAQA regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of student-centred pedagogical methods.
- A sound knowledge of the Blackboard or Moodle learning management system.
- Excellent ability to guide teaching staff with timely, accurate and constructive input, feedback and development that promotes overall progress.
- Excellent Change Management skills in a constantly changing higher education environment.
- Computer literate with a thorough understanding of shared workspaces
- Preference will be given to Google Workspace, GSuite, Excel, Microsoft Office.

**Module development and enhancement**
- Set and assess the module’s syllabus using the overall Programme Exit-Level Outcomes, Module Outcomes and Associated Assessment Criteria, aligned to the appropriate NQF level.
- Write an interactive eStudy Guide based on the Programme Exit-Level Outcomes, with the Module Outcomes and Study Unit Outcomes and related assessment criteria.
- Include self-assessment exercises and answers.
- This should include the development of all eLearn content integrated with the eStudy Guide, and include interactive quizzes with answers to be used on eLearn.
- Do minor eStudy Guide updates, annually, to ensure relevance and Continuous Assessment (CASS) activities updated to align to assessments questions. Major updates for eStudy Guides will be scheduled every three years (completed in year 3 for semester 1 of year 4).
- If required, select an appropriate prescribed textbook. It is expected that the incumbent is to continuously stay up to date with developments in their relevant discipline in both the academic
- and related industry realms. Propose additional reading material.
- Introduce specific actions/incentives in eStudy Guides to promote broader reading in trade magazines, business news publications and journals.
- Actively engage with the Programme Coordinator on an ad hoc basis throughout the semester, providing general feedback on progress made, challenges experienced, sharing ideas and thoughts on content or process development/ improvement and so forth.

**Teaching**
- Develop the ePacer prior to the commencement of each semester, to assist students, to timeously manage the module content throughout the semester.
- Prepare a Module Teaching Plan (MTP) as per the brief.
- Prepare Lecture Lesson Plans in line with the Module Teaching Plan (MTP).
- Present the scheduled lectures (live, online and/or interactive) throughout each semester (according to the IMM Graduate School timetable and standards).
- Introduce specific actions/incentives before or during lectures as well as in eDiscussion Forum to promote broader reading in trade magazines, business news publications and academic journals.
- Attend monthly Skills Development sessions where required.
- Liaise regularly with the Academic Head at the Campus to ensure quality of teaching.

**Lecturer and Tutor Support**
- Day Lectures (3 hours);
- Evening Lectures (2 hours);
- Tutorials (2 hours);
- Workshops (3 hours x 5 Saturdays).

**_ Note:_**:

- Diploma - only evening lectures_
- Teach-out modules only 7x eMasterclasses_
- Conduct Lecturer, and where applicable, Tutor briefing sessions prior to the commencement of each semester. Generate, and maintain academic discussions with all Lecturers and Tutors throughout the semester.
- Approve Lecturer and Tutor lesson plans for the semester, and ensure they are uploaded to a central repository.
- Collate feedback on Lecturer and Tutor evaluations of their lectures and tutorials for input into the development of the Module Teaching Plan for the next academic year.
- Communicate any developments and changes in the module to the Lecturers and Tutors throughout the semester.
In the beginning of each semester, conduct a briefing session with all Lecturers and Tutors, relaying expectations.
- Any specific challenging areas or more difficult concepts to be highlighted during this session.
Meetings with Tutors and Lecturers will be required (at least monthly).
- At the end of each semester, conduct a debriefing session with all Lecturers and Tutors, sharing issues that either Lecturers/Tutors struggled with or
