Business Unit Manager

Key responsibilities:

- Manage a highly skilled professional team consisting of Engineers, Technologists, Project Managers, Project Administrators, Technicians and Draughtspersons.
- Responsible for all management-related aspects of the business unit including human resource management, contract management, business development and client relationship management.
- Planning and directing the Business Unit’s activities to achieve agreed short and long-term Business Unit targets and organisational goals.
- Addressing the teams’ development needs whilst enforcing the organisation’s norms and standards, policies, values and code of ethics.
- Provide direction and guidance to the engineering team.
- Responsible for the financial performance of the BU i.e. developing the annual BU budget, maintaining the BU’s orderbook and reviewing and tracking the BU’s monthly and quarterly performance (budget vs actual & forecast, EBIT, P&L, age analysis, WIP, invoicing).
- Development of project portfolio in the Southern African region.
- Internal planning, implementation and monitoring of projects and related contracts.
- Internal project cost control, ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
- Coordinate internal resources and subconsultant’s for the successful execution of projects.
- Ensure resource availability, work allocation and monitoring.
- Responsible for the teams’ outputs and deliverables on projects from feasibility studies, concept development, basic engineering, detail engineering, detail design, project management and execution.
- Review work of subordinate Engineering professionals.
- Coach and mentor engineering team.
- Representing the client's or organization’s interests.
- Upholding a proud organisational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with staff and other stakeholders.
- Enforcing HSE standards & regulations for the internal Staff
- Enforce compliance and adherence to the requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Participate and ensure continuous improvement of processes and Quality Management System.
- Client liaison and client relationship management.
- Preparation of bids and proposals in response to advertised tenders and invited requests for proposal.
- Business development and marketing the organisation’s capabilities and building solid relationships with clients, potential clients, other consultants, contractors, suppliers, funding agencies, project developers and industry partners.

- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economical, cultural, and ethnical background.
- Valid South African driver’s licence with no endorsements and their own transportation.

Desired additional skills and knowledge
- MS Projects.
- Supplementary qualification or experience in Project Management i.e. Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Professional Construction Project Manager (SACPCMP).

**Salary**: R1,200,000.00 - R1,500,000.00 per year
