22seven is South Africa’s leading Personal Financial Management app.

Our mission is to change the relationship people have with their money by providing them with the best money tracking tools so they become more financially confident.

22seven is a free app for end-users. The service is kept free by revenue earned via 22seven Insights and 22seven API.
- 22seven Insights provides consumer market analysis and insights to asset managers and retailers based on aggregated analysis of users’ spending activities.
- 22seven API provides 22seven’s expense tracking and budgeting functionality as a SaaS offering to third parties.

As a Data Lead, you will be an important actor in developing our products, across all businesses, to rapidly expand our client
- and user-base. As the custodian of our data-competencies, you will act to entrench a metrics-driven culture across the organisation to ensure we achieve our objective of helping our customers manage their money better.

**Responsibilities**

As a Data Lead, your day-to-day role is to help set the data team Objectives and Key Results for the App and Insights, and to design and coordinate the activities of the team to effectively achieve these objectives.

These Key Results are agreed to in collaboration with the Head of App, Head of Insights and other stakeholders, and are aligned to the objectives of the business, the achievement of which will directly impact the growth of 22seven.

Your responsibilities will include:
**Data Analysis**
- Work with mostly structured data to develop visualisations and solutions for product and design teams to enhance our users’ journey or experience
- Combine your understanding of personal finance with your data expertise to co-develop personalised nudges that help 22seven users better understand and act with their money
- Design and build products out of aggregated user data that reveal unique and relevant consumer trends for Insights’ clients that include leading investment managers and corporate executives

**Data Science**
- Maintain and extend 22seven’s lead in transaction categorisation and enrichment through your knowledge of appropriate ML and statistical models
- Develop models that incorporate 22seven’s proprietary data and public or 3rd party data for predictive modelling of consumer trends and economic activity for investment managers and corporate clients.

**Data Engineering**
- Maintaining and expanding the data team’s infrastructure
- Automating and hosting tasks or data on cloud infrastructure
- Building and iterating industry best practices for the data team

**Data Ops**
- Prioritising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the data team
- Ensuring the data team achieves its objectives and quarterly targets
- Communicating and reporting with internal and external stakeholders

**About you**

And these are some things we’d like you to bring to the role:

- 5+ years of experience in the field of data science/analysis
- Post graduate qualification in a data related field
- Advanced knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Experience with leading cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Experience with other data tools and services

22seven has a **hybrid **work environment. While we do support remote working, for most weeks you will be required to work from our offices in Cape Town 2 or 3 days.

**Team collaboration**
- Work with our data analysts and scientists, to ensure we are analysing the right things, reacting in the right ways and that our data capabilities are continually developed.
- Work with our Product Owner to ensure that the development process is working smoothly and that high quality standards are maintained.
- Work with our Product Manager to ensure that we are informed about and reacting to customer behaviour and product performance.
