The main purpose of this position is to provide leadership, operational management and strategic direction to the Advanced Security Operations Unit of the Security Operations Division within the Group Security Management Department (GSMD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).
Detailed Description
Manage the operational direction and provide guidance in the execution of advanced security operations - the transportation of high-value assets, mobile and static VIP protection and special events - to ensure the security of personnel and assets of the SARB Group.
- Manage the resources (financial, human and capital) of the advanced security operations function to achieve the strategic objectives as set by GSMD.
- Provide input into the departmental strategy.
- Communicate and clarify the divisional and strategic goals of the department, division and unit to own team.
- Provide input into the divisional operational plan to ensure the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives.
- Implement policies and procedures and ensure compliance with these to mitigate risks to the division and limit audit findings.
- Create a performance culture in the unit by defining performance expectations and managing the performance of direct reports.
- Manage the delivery of advanced security operations and control costs, ensuring alignment with related functions and the organisational value chain.
- Manage the provision of management information for the purposes of decision making.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to enhance optimal functionality.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as well as external security services in the mitigation of any risks related to advanced security operations.
Job Requirements
a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Security Management/Security Risk Management (NQF 7) or an equivalent qualification;
- a minimum of eight years’ working experience in advanced security, including transportation of high-value assets, mobile and static VIP protection and special events;
- a minimum of five years’ experience in a management role; and
- solid knowledge of security management, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
