The purpose of the role is to lead the content development and editing function and oversee the overall end to end production process of Auditor-General South Africa’s (AGSA) content products from beginning to the final stages of production and distribution. Furthermore, to develop a content development plan to enhance citizen and stakeholder awareness and education that lead them to action.
Strategic function
Provide strategic inputs to the strategy of the business unit (BU) and manage the output of the centre to ensure implementation of the BU balance score card (BSC) initiatives.
Develop, manage and implement a design strategy and creative approach for the organisation in a seamless manner.
Act as a custodian of the AGSA brand.
Product management
Provide innovative ideas and guide the centre in development and conceptualisations of various products, content positioning and development for various audiences to enable effective stakeholder and public engagements in line with the #cultureshift strategy. Act as the lead content developer and editor.
To ensure as head of editorial and lead content creative that the development of content and language editing of all AGSA products is seamless
Develop and manage the end to end production strategy of AGSA's flagship products, i.e. General reports, special reports, IAR, Blue Book etc.
Manage the development of quality content for seamless communication.
Working through the BUL, be the point of contact and advise on content development, editing and production across the organisation
Project representation for production in the organisation forum.
Introducing content and language policy to guide development across the AGSA.
Approving the publication’s layout, design, style and tone.
Reviewing written content for spelling and grammar errors.
Produce general reports, special reports and annual reports content working with relevant BUs.
Produce content development plan with compelling and quality content for various stakeholders and citizens to maintain AGSA continued relevance.
Develop and implement an organisation wide production strategy that supports organisational objectives and aligns with AGSA communication and overall strategic goals.
Develop innovative products and lead their development, creative design for various stakeholders that will support various organisational efforts to influence.
Ensuring factual accuracy and quality control all content and edit, design work of the centre and communication products within the BU.
Undertake benchmark exercise that will inform content and product development to enable better understanding of AGSA messages that would stimulate them to action.
Measure the effectiveness and impact of our products on relevant stakeholders on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to review and amend the strategy as appropriate.
Report back through the BUL to EXCO and other key internal stakeholders at regular intervals to ensure products remain relevant.
Represent the BU where required in forums with content and production requirements and also serve as liaison for the BU with relevant business units (audit and support).
Produce and review the AGSA language house style.
Manage all organisation’s publication schedules and ensure sign off of content.
Lead and manage production of all AGSA strategic material and guide editors, designers and proof-readers to ensure timely production.
Manage and ensure development of quality and targeted content to be used in various communication opportunities for all stakeholders and the public.
Keep track of and manage the processes to ensure timely delivery of products.
Lead the development of messaging, content like speeches, Q&As, presentations and briefing notes.
Serve as chief editor and content developer for all products and manage all editing and content development value chain.
Craft, improve, and update engaging content about the AGSA work and find innovative ways to presenting audit outcomes.
Provide writing, editing and proofreading capacity for all AGSA products.
Manage all language editing activities and content development value chain, especially of strategic products.
Quality and consistency of edited products and provide sign off of all edited content.
Ensure language style guide is constantly updated in line with the best practice.
Perform ongoing content audit of all products and measured through industry competition i.e. SA publication forum where relevant and necessary.
Stakeholder management
Scan the environment to ensure a clear understanding of internal stakeholder needs.
Create strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance product development and conduct continuous and regular environmental scanning to enhance products and AGSA value proposition.
Liaise with stakeholders and ensure that the organisation remains relevant and in-line with industry standards.
Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on products design and meet their requirements.
