PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this role is to provide accurate, data-driven statistical metallurgical reporting for precious metal governance and control of all operational, security and evaluation risks which impact the profitability in the Smelter Business Unit.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO
- Communicate metal balance risks and implement plans with stakeholders to investigate, correct and monitor.
- Manage the reporting of the metal inventory across various processes by considering risk for the over or, under statement of metal inventory.
- Provides timeous and accurate metal stock verification, reconciliation, process efficiencies and metal recoveries via escalation processes and reporting mechanisms.
- Leads initiatives for metal performance and metal management system improvements through SAP or other platforms.
- Involved in the developing and managing improvement initiatives, offsite campaigns, test work programmes with critical parameters identified for metal accounting accuracy.
- Accountable for accurate stock management both physically and on SAP with daily, weekly and monthly stocks checks with Process Leaders, Foremen and Supervisors.
- Enforce the documenting and control for any process changes that affect metal efficiencies through management of change processes, risk assessments, ICAM investigations and ensure procedures are in place to mitigate the risk.
- Development of SOPs for metal control and management for security, processing and transacting of all precious metals in the Smelter.
- Ensure systems that support knowledge management are effective to guarantee a high and continuing level of efficiency within the department.
- Will lead all risk-based metal accounting and precious metal management control initiatives in the Smelter business unit (including Sampling & Evaluation).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A completed Matric qualification.
- A Degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of working experience in a Metallurgical environment, with a preference to precious metals and pyro-metallurgical processes.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role.

- Ability to address conflict through their high technical aptitude of the Smelter operation an business unit drivers which influence metal accounting practices and systems thus resolving metal risks.
- Work with integrity and within the guidelines of the business that fosters ethical behaviours and escalation to management.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Computer proficiency — MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), SAP, Data Analytics, Power BI and statistical and trend analysis for control, reporting and business decision making.
- Interpersonal skills — have sound supervisory and leadership communication skills, which allows you to provide clear direction to subordinates.

KNOWLEDGE
- In-depth knowledge of SAP and development of metal accounting processes.
