PURPOSE

The purpose of IT Desktop and Network Technician is to provide first line support to the business which includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all organizational hardware and infrastructure.

This role reports into the IT Infrastructure Manager.

SPAN OF CONTROL

This role is responsible for are compliant with the Belgotex BBBEE standards, sourced from the correct suppliers, at the best process and adhering to the Belgotex quality standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS
- Monitoring changes within the environment, network security and peripherals
- Diagnose and repair hardware and infrastructure related Network problems
- Support Network and LAN users including installation configuration and maintenance of all PC & terminal equipment and all peripherals
- Troubleshoot and liaise with Vendors regarding Telephone problems
- Backup systems - insert tapes and see that they are in the safe daily
- Ensure that all changes to hardware and or/ software are properly recorded in the Asset register or Software register
- Perform all jobs as per training and work instructions
- Reports hardware malfunctions and carry out preventative maintenance
- General staff training and assistance in the MS Office
- Assist In the development and implementation of a Business Continuity Plan for the IT Department
- General housekeeping including the storage area and the maintenance of records in the filing system
- Preparedness to learn and work in other areas of the department
- Perform all work in a safe, neat, and tidy manner

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Knowledge and skill
- Matric with mathematics or math’s literacy.
- 2 years working experience as a Desktop and Network Technician, or similar role is essential.
- A+/N+ certified and MCSE or equivalent Degree in IT
