**_ Position Purpose:_**
Effective management of the payroll department and related function for TPT to ensure the accurate
and timely payment of salaries.
**_ Position outputs:_**
1. Oversee the monthly payroll sign-off reporting function at TPT, ensuring that sign-off reports submitted to HQ are accurate
prior to the final approval and release of the bank file.
2. Review and approval of the monthly payroll.
3. Review and approval of manual payroll journals.
4. Participate in risk assessment and prepare reports to engage senior management.
5. Accountable for directing and controlling the accurate calculation, deduction and timely payment of PAYE, UIF and SDL for
employees of TPT.
6. Liaise with internal and external auditors and oversee corrective actions that deal with irregularities.
7. Monitor the implementation of standard operating procedures and interventions identified for continuous improvement.
8. Oversee the performance of ad-hoc assignments assigned by CFO of TPT.
9. Assess, prepare and contribute ideas for the improvement of reporting to assist with the management of labour costs.
10. Business Process Owner (BPO) for the SAP HR (Payroll Section) module to ensure that the functionality of SAP is
continuously enhanced.
11. Management, guidable and coaching of team members.
12. Implement process to maintain, monitor and assess income and deduction codes (wage types) in SAP to ensure the
reporting from payroll to the income statement, balance sheet and IRP5 is accurate.
13. Accountable for the accurate reporting of TPT's leave pay provision. Implementation of process which is focused on the
detection of potential errors to the leave pay provision calculation.
14. Management of the Payroll department and co-ordination of 15 terminal payrolls. (Through the Financial Managers and
terminal payroll managers).
15. Adherence to strict and pressurised deadlines.
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
Relevant degree (NQF 7), in Commerce/Accounting/Finance/Payroll.
5 years relevant experience within the payroll and finance management environment of which 2 years should be in a
managerial or specialist level in payroll management role.
Or
Number of years with certificates or no formal qualification:
4 - 8 years relevant and solid experience in supervising activities, diagnostic and quality of work-flow and procedures;
Quality execution of work, within the defined operating procedures,
standards and working routines. Or provide technical guidance/expertise. Execution of work ensuring compliance with at
least 3 years at supervisory/ managerial level or specialist
experience.
