**Manager: Strategic Support to CEO (Chief of Staff)**

**1 Year Fixed Term Contract**

**Durban**

**Salary: R808 004.00 per annum**

**Main purpose of the Job**:
To ensure efficient operation of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by providing strategic leadership support, by coordinating the company-wide goals into a coherent plan understood by all; management and co-ordination on project deliverables (as defined by the CEO from time to time), stakeholder liaison and the management of communication in and out of the CEO’s office.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Project Management/Business Management or Administration/Communication or equivalent.
- 5-8 years Project Management/Business Management or administration/Communication experience or a related field.
- Knowledge of the Tourism industry.
- Proven track record of performing within a diverse and dynamic internal and external environment and diverse teams (and additional training if applicable)
- Must have Knowledge and understanding of the following:.
- Government priorities and imperatives
- The PFMA and regulations, and other relevant legislation - e.g. the National Strategic Intelligence Act; the National Archives of South Africa Act; the Promotion of Access to Information Act.
- Performance monitoring, evaluation and reporting frameworks, systems and processes. Relevant legislation and regulatory requirements namely PFMA, Treasury Regulations and Frameworks on performance information and strategic plans.
- Communications and information management legislative requirements.
- All Public Service systems.
- Sound understanding of the Tourism Industry with a niche focus on the business tourism industry, locally and internationally.

**Duties Include**:
**CEO Liaison**:

- Attend a multitude of strategy forums and key management committees to stay up to date with operational conditions and provide early warning to the CEO and develop clear action items for execution.
- Ensure that policy or strategy decisions taken by the CEO are communicated to the correct audience in a timely manner and implemented.
- Act as initial point of entry for escalated client queries and for queries from other external stakeholders.
- Interface with the CEO’s direct reports to understand the operating environment and assess to prioritise focus areas and budget allocation.

**Strategic Support**:

- Monitor and Follow-up on action plans to ensure deliverables on the SA Tourism strategic plan.
- Participate in meetings with SA Tourism EXCO and the Board.
- Analyse strategic proposals and make strategic suggestions
- Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting responsibilities
- Weekly planning with CEO -provide information and deliverables to assist CEO be more productive and effective
- Plan and coordinate quarterly EXCO planning process (objectives and key results) and events

**Project Management of Strategic Initiatives**:

- Conduct research and strategically manage all CEO projects, through proper planning, coordination and monitoring e.g.CSI initiatives, projects arising out of business initiatives or proposals and board initiated projects.
- Work with cross-functional teams on how to operationalise the company’s vision towards achieving 5 in 5
- Traits of Strategic Initiatives
- Highly important to the executive team and the organisation
- No natural home within the functionally structured organisation
- A clear definition of what success looks like for each project
- Monitor all projects’ expenditure and deviations and timeous reporting to the CEO.
- Manage deliverables on CEO calendar and annual plans.
- Manage CEO’s budget.

**Communication Management**:

- Develop and manage communication as well as publish documents (where necessary).
- Manage, create and maintain procedures for tracking and following up on all correspondence related to the portfolio of the CEO.
- Collate reports from divisions in line with the business strategic plan or CEO request.
- Ensure that the CEO timeously receives the correct documentation and briefing notes for meetings.

Develop high level presentations for CEO presentation at various forums, prepare and or review all CEO’s speeches for CEO’s final input.

**Participate as an active Employee**:

- Operate within delegated authorisations.
- Adhere at all times to the values of the SA Tourism.
- Prepare monthly reports and make presentations as required.
- Actively participate in management meetings, committees and relevant governance structures.
- Positively support the implementation of all management decisions.
