**Minimum Requirements**:

- A relevant post-graduate qualification in Human Resources (NQF Level 8);
- 5 to 8 years’ experience as an HR Generalist;
- Sound knowledge of MS Office suite (MS Word, PowerPoint & Excel);
- Ability to be proactive and use initiative.
- Excellent administration and organisational skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and extended hours;
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Must be able to work well within a team as well as independently;
- Must be a SA Citizen.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Monitor vacancies and the speed of execution of the recruitment process in allocated Business Units/Research Programmes;
- Guide line managers in developing annual workforce plans;
- Develop absence management plans and determine acceptable absence thresholds for the allocated business area;
- Review and update the programmes and Units’ organisation structures and role profiles regularly;
- Break down employment equity goals into Division/Programme specific elements and communicate the importance of these goals to line management;
- Perform other people management functions, including but not limited to:

- Mentoring and coaching,
- Management of discipline and grievances,
- Performance management and development,
- Conflict management, and
- Contract management.
- Ensure that conditions of employment and practices comply with salary administration directives;
- Ensure continuous service delivery to all business units in pursuit of HR objectives;
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements in the performance of the HR services;
- Resolve HR service-related issues with internal stakeholders;
- Interact with managers to understand their requirements for HR service delivery;
- Provide assistance to line managers on work performance matters and sound HR practices;
- Evaluate and facilitate the functioning of the performance management system and processes;
- Engage with staff in terms of HR and Labour Relations queries;
- Review, in collaboration with the External Labour Relations Consultant, the number of Employee Relations issues raised and create improvement plans to improve work performance;
- Supervision and support of direct reports;
- Act as a change agent to facilitate structural or system changes;
- Facilitate workshops to up-skill line management on changes in HR policies and procedures;
- Assist in the collection of all information related to training & skills development from different Programmes;
Accurate and timeous reporting of HR statistics.
