**_ Position Purpose:_**
- To provide strategic leadership in ensuring that the external reputation management objectives of Transnet are met.
- Ensuring a hands-on role in formulating, activating and delivering a comprehensive external communications plan, policy

and strategy for Transnet.
- Driving appropriate communication to all Transnet stakeholder

**_Position outputs:_**
- Develop group-wide external communication and reputation management strategies and all supporting processes and

structures.
- To lead external communication and reputation activities for key personnel including: Chairperson, GCE and Executives,

including OD CES - including driving public appearances for such personnel.
- To direct and lead all external reputation management interventions across the company — including reputation-building

exercises with the Shareholder department and other government entities.
- Lead and direct all intra-divisional reputation management interventions.
- Identify and develop strategies/plans to boost Transnet's reputation among external stakeholders.
- Identify external communications requirements and align this information to the strategic objectives of Transnet.
- Develop an external communications matrix for Transnet and key projects - positioning relations according to the level of

influence, impact or enhancement they may provide to the business or its projects.
- Vastly strengthen PR capability within the group.

- Actively manage media relations with editors on behalf of Transnet.
- To represent Transnet in various forums to enhance the company's image.

- Identity company specialists to act as spokespersons for Transnet in their respective fields.
- Coordinate with communications managers in the divisions to ensure alignment of external messaging.
- Identify and engage with key media outlet to ensure targeted messaging for Transnet matters.
- Coordinate and liaise with Branding and Publicity to ensure Transnet's message is consistent.
- Manage staff and budget.

**_Qualifications & Experience:_**
- A Bachelor's degree in Communication or Journalism or related field
- 8-10 years' experience in specialist communications/public relations/managerial positions in an organization of

commensurate size to Transnet.
- Requirement of Trust and Honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, analysis of the South African political, media and economic

landscape.
- Strong writing and editing skills Inherent
