- Come and join this dedicated team as a Manager External & Community Communications. wThis role provides guidance, develop integrated external and community communication plans, campaigns and initiatives and ensure execution, aligned to the Anglo American Platinum and Anglo American plc business strategies. In addition, the incumbent will identify, build and maintain effective media relationships at a local, regional and national level to ensure informed and accurate media coverage of Anglo American Platinum’s operations, external events and announcements.

**Job Description
- Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Building and maintaining a detailed knowledge and understanding of Anglo American Platinum’s business, strategy and performance within the context of the mining industry and the global macro-economic environment to enable the effective articulation of positioning to the media and external stakeholders
- Identify and proactively manage matters of current and potential media interest (related primarily to corporate issues, strategy, financial, specific operations/sites and sustainability performance) via the development of clear, concise messaging agreed with all relevant internal parties, working jointly with relevant functional experts and Anglo American Platinum’s key stakeholders
- Compiling briefing documents for internal stakeholders to prepare them for media interviews and other external presentations
- Identify suitable opportunities for leaders to promote the company and Anglo American Platinum’s achievements
- Manage media in line with the crisis communication plan and ensure the crisis communication plan is updated regularly as per the policy requirement. This includes the preparation of holding statements and developing and implementing pro-active media plans as and when required.
- Maintain an effective network of external stakeholders and community communication channels with key stakeholders and manage the development of suitable material for corporate and group channels.
- Act as editor-in-chief of community-focused publications that showcase Anglo American Platinum’s positive impact in host communities and countries.
- Provide input to the Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Impact business plan and support the team on external stakeholder communication and reputation management.
- Strategically support the operations in engaging with external stakeholders (media, communities, etc) through mass communication
- Manage the company website in accordance with the requirements for a listed company and in alignment with Group sites.
- Provide input to ensure that the company’s strategic objectives are met and its reputation improved through joint advertising and social mediacampaigns, as well as conference sponsorships, managed and executed by AASA Group Communication. This includes providing appropriate content and ensure that the company is effectively represented on the Group social media platforms, as well as the community WhatsApp platform.
- Work closely with internal communications colleagues to ensure external content is also shared internally where relevant
- Ensure senior leaders receive media training
- Share relevant media coverage with the PMC as and when required.
- Support the operational leadership teams and line management in executing external stakeholder and community communication responsibilities.
- Act as editor-in-chief of the Anglo American Platinum external website

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in Communication/Journalism/ Commerce
- Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License

**Desirable**:

- Postgraduate qualification

- Proficient knowledge in designing and implementing effective communication strategies, channels and initiatives in a large multinational organisation
- Real-time problem-solving skills in a fast-changing environment
